JN nets a return then Murray does the same in a rally. An aggressive forehand gives AM 30-15 and a brilliant down the line forehand winner makes it 40. He perhaps gets carried away and nets with the same shot. JN can't return in play though so AM holds to 30.
Andy has the best record so far in the hardcourt season!!! Despite not winning any titles he has a semi (newport), a final (washington) and at least a quarter final here! A great run!
As a result, he's 2nd in the US Open series behind Tursunov when you include Toronto results so far and he needs to beat Nieminen to go 1st. He'd be 1st already if Newport was included (it's not, because it's on grass) - for more details, see http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=61841&p=3&topicID=7973428

Murray squanders a drive volley after good approach shots but wins the next point by chasing down a short ball that he didn't have much right to get to. A super volley from AM gives him 15-30 but he chips a return long straight away. Big ace out wide followed by an easy put-away gives the Finn the game.
According to his stats Andy has a low 1st serve percentage as usual at 46%. However, unlike usual he also has a relatively low points won on first serve at 73%, normally for him it is up nearer 90%.

his first serve stats are lower than they have bn this week...44% AD murray... deuce... Adv Nieminen ..... saved again (6th bp) Adv Andy deuce..... adv murray...come on hold this time!
Nearly gets passed but JN just misses. Murray responds by missing a forehand. He then nets a backhand and can't handle JN's precision rallying. A big serve out wide saves one break point and a great pass saves the second.
Great length from JN gets a 3rd bp for the game but again AM saves with a backhand. JN misses out wide but wins the next two points. Thankfully he misses a return at bp again.
He then nets to give up advantage but his forehand gets him back to deuce. He hits a return long and successfully challenges being aced up the middle. He can't do any better with the second serve and Andy holds.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to give up the laptop to my e-bay - hungry mother, apologies.
Just to paint a picture - Andy is playing with aggression and winning points from it, but his first serve is in the 30s and I get the feeling he's second-best at rallying here. Nieminen's length in particular is top class. This will be very tough for him.
Saved Advantage Nieminen Deuce break point again saved - deuce another break point for andy! Come on.... yet again saved... adv nieminen deuce 4th break point for andy.... saved... adv jarkko
