On the US open site I found a "weather advisory" section where it says they are expecting the rain to stop in about 45 minutes (that was at 11.30, 4.30 here) and that they would then dry the courts and start play.

Here's hoping they are not being over-optimistic. The weather forecast originally said there would be rain all day.
