ATP Nottingham! - Andy is playing

According to the BBC, Andy has been given a wildcard into Nottingham!

"Andy Murray has been given a wild card for the Nottingham Open as he looks to find some form ahead of Wimbledon.

The 19-year-old has slipped to 45 in the world rankings and has won only three of his last 12 matches.

Greg Rusedski pulled out of the Nottingham event on Friday with a hip injury that saw him retire at Queen's.

"Andy Murray's decision to compete is fantastic news for the tournament and British tennis fans," said tournament director Patrick Hughesman.

"It's obviously disappointing that Greg has had to withdraw from a tournament where he has won twice before. We wish him well with his recovery." "

Come on, Andy, I have tickets for the final!

RE: Andy to play Nottingham!

Great news!! Hop he plays better and win the tournament! though he's got a tough field to contend with such as johansson and gasquet.

RE: ATP Nottingham! - Andy is playing

That is really great news, I was feeling quite disappointed at having to wait another two weeks to be able to follow Andy. Hopefully he can go far and get all the extra grass court practise which he needs.

Another of our members - "jez" will also be delighted as he's at Nottingham Uni and is going every day to the tournament.

Andy had been originally planning to play at the exhibition grass court event in Stoke Park this week, in his interview at Queens he said he was pretty sure he was going to play there. He must have decided that he needed some more intensive grass matches under his belt.

Andy's also playing doubles with Jamie this week which should be interesting.

My only apprehension this week is that the grass in Nottingham is really fast - the courts very haven't been slowed down like Queens and Wimbledon and they suit the traditional grass court specialists - big serving serve-volleyers. Normally I'm pleased that it's fast because of Greg but this year I'm going to be wishing it was slower !
