Andy had a relatively easy shot at the net on the first point. Instead of hitting the ball cross court he went for a finess shot that didn't clear the net. Very frustrating.
Tipsarevic missed but the umpire overuled Andy yelled at him
Third mp. Another poor drop shot from Tipsarevic but yet again instead of punishing it Andy responded with a dodgy drop shot of his own and Tipsarevic made the pass.
Grrr. seriously, I didn't recognise the tennis he was playing. His serve was way better than has been for months, but he didn't seem to be able to do what he normally does so well - stay patient, keep getting the shots in, wait for the mistake. So many unforced errors.
thats a really poor result, ok Tipsy isnt a bad player but i think even big arvs can run him close, and the wya boggo played vs DT yesteday i think he could have had a good chance here. So is that just tim through to the 2nd round? maybe andy will ask for a nottingam wc? if he wants to make a good impact at wimby surely he needs a really good draw or more competitive grass matches!
maybe he will also relaise that he really does need a coach a t this stage, he isnt federer after all.

Well, as it was on early I managed to watch that, but I almost wish I hadn't. Frankly, it was painful.
The way he is going, it is no good holding out to find a really good coach, because if they watch the way he is playing at the moment they won't touch him. At the moment any decent coach would be better than none.
He has so much talent, it is really disappointing. I know I said we have to give him a couple of years, but if he doesn't sort out his attitude - or have it sorted for him - I'm starting to wonder just where he will be in a couple of years.
Unfortunately, it wasn't andy's day today, at times he played well e.g. 3rd set, 4-1 down, 15-15, he played 3 great points in a row! But then i suppose the commentators are right...he needs to sort himself out and that means a coach very very quickly, otherwise he's not going to have a good season! He even said himself that he would have had a great season had a coach been found earlier!

its a pity really that he struggling to know what he does on the court i mean why does he take pace off his 1st serve to below 120mph, when last year he did bullets of 140mph!!
i think hes wrong, he wants a grand slam winner coach, but to be honest just becuse a coach got 1 player to the slam doesnt mean he wil lwith another. you dont always need a big name, you just need someone who works. Alex and his coach, no ones heard of him, but it seems alex has really improved, and i thinmk we all agree if he had a nroaml year with out so many injuries he would be much higher than he is now. as a player you have to respect your coach, but that cant just be on what he has achieved with someone else.
this loss whilst painfull now is only really a blip and can be overcome but i hope he does make the right decision coach wise and not just suckered in by a big name/hype.

I don't think the loss is the worrying thing - players go through these blips in form all the time. I mean Ginepri has won about 4 matches all year, Time went through a period between Wimbledon and the AO where he won 3 matches or something, that's not even counting guys like Gasquet, Wawrinka, Baghdahtis who have had dips recently. That's not what's worrying me. What's worrying me is that he is so unsure of his game on court. He will play some points too defensively, he will then swing to the other extreme and charge into net on a wing and a prayer.
The serve is killing him - it's so pathetic that the other side of his game is suffereing because he's always under pressure because he knows it's not a gimme when he serves. Less talented guys than him get higher in the rankings with nothing but a big serve. With Andy, he KNOWS he's going to get broken at least once in a set and that means that he is pushing things and that makes his UE count rise. He has a great returning game - but I don't care who you are, you will struggle if you need to break two or three times a set to be sure of winning the set. I honestly believe that as soon as the serve is fixed then the results will come because he'll be able to relax a bit more.
I honestly don't know what Petchey was thinking when they decided to change the serve. Honestly - he had a really good serve that just needed a little tweaking to make it more consistant. Now, it's a complete liability.
It is the nature of the loss rather than the loss itself which is disappointing. Andy really didn't play well, and that passive style is not going to cut the mustard against top players, evenwhen he cuts out the unforced errors. Tips played competent tennis, but nothing outstanding, and it was enough to beat AM.
He certainly needs a coach. I'mnot even sure that Petch was a great coach, he was just a good pal and a facilitator, Andy got by on talent most of the time. Brad Gilbert's name has been tossed around, I think Brad would be a fantastic choice for Andy, he has a fantastic understanding of the game. We'll have to see what the next few weeks bring. His ranking won't be too badly affected by today's loss, he only made 20 points here last year, but Wimbledon is a different kettle of fish, he has 75 points to defend!
