I'd been noticing quite a lot of tournaments with initial pools.
Here's hoping they don"t have any ideas about trying that again in the pro game.
Yes, I think it only applies to J30s and J60s
And, as far as I understand, it's optional i.e. only some of the J30s are using it
I can see the advantage for young players, to have more than one match
But, yes, it's not great for spectators / followers
So keeping it at the low end makes sense
The ITF site also seems to have huge problems in presenting the info - unless it's me and I can't find it - on the normal ITF junior calendar of events, I can't find the pools, the quali draw isn't 'right', only F draw (for those who qualify) and basically I can only deduce the pool from looking at the OoP

In the draws option you can change knock-out to round robin.
