Just looked back at some predictions. We all want them to do well but not looking good this year so far, with only one GS left, Emma and Sonay injured and so on. Quite likely I would have thought that we will have no women in top 100 soon. Though someone may take over...Plus the sub 250 ranked aren't really making big progress consistently. The comparison with mens is stark, where large numbers of 100 to 300 ranked players seem to push each other on. If the women's 50 to 150 ranked fall away and the young ones don't break through I can see a lot of criticism of GB tennis coming. After all, with small numbers of favourites it's easy to be left with nothing due to injury, change of plans, loss of motivation or just not having what it takes.....

The GB women's side is certainly having a bad time for varying reasons compared to the GB men.

Yes, if you check out the 'Strongest Nation' thread in the General section, last Monday 03/08 the GB top 10 ten men were actually at a for them record thread level ( and well before that ) average ranking of 124.6 ( 7th in the world ), even with Jack D more than 100 places below his best. Whereas the GB top 10 women's average ranking waa 188.3, their worst since June 2024 and now down to 14th in the world.

As recently as 30/06/25 the men's average of 155 2 waa slightly behind the women's avetage of 154.4. What a difference just over a year makes.

The LTA do indeed seem to be banking a heck.of a lot on Mika, Hannah and Mimi.
