I think Romania would have been the best draw of the four.

That wasn't an option - the draws were for each of the second place teams to go into one of two slots in the opposite half of the draw.  Hence Japan/GBR had to play USA or Czechia.  Romania/France were seeded in the opposite half of the draw.  The Czech singles players are Jana Kovackova (JWR 11 losing to Hannah K in the World Junior finals) and Sofie Hettlerova (JWR43 on a 13 match unbeaten streak)

A beautiful livestream for anyone who can get it

video.worldtennistourjuniors.com/livestream/s-day-4-billie-jean-king-cup-by-gainbridge-juniors-otxhl

Meg was a break up and then Hettlerova changed her style of play, far more loopier balls, less risk, and Meg isn't very good at the net so she's really reluctant to come in for drive volleys and gets pushed back

Now 3-3 but close

katie O'Brien needs to do some coaching here

She hasn't really helped Meg with what to do after the Czech girl changed her style of play

And she hasn't kept Meg calm and focused either - Meg is really frazzled and has gone from being 3-1 up to 4-5 down

However, now Hettlerova has to serve for the set - which is added pressure

And, as half expected, the pressure tells - two nasty faults, her first for ages, a drop shot dumped into the net ..... and it's back on serve

Megan came close to a big win, but eventually lost out 5-7 7-6(5) 6-3
In the top singles Jana Kovackova has just won the first set 6-4
USA and France have already booked their semi-final places

Hollie was only able to win 1 more game and I expect the doubles will be cancelled as the tie is decided, unless both nations want the practice

Megan Knight lost to Sofie Hettlerova 7-4 6-7(5) 3-6
Hollie Smart lost to Jana Kovackova 4-6 1-6

Next is the doubles and Edie and Hollie are named to represent GBR

Today Jana Kovackova didn't play - would have made a big difference potentially yesterday - and Czechia were clobbered by the strong US team (only one competitive set). They are likely to play France in the final, who have won all 3 sets so far against Poland.

However they have had a rethink and Megan now plays with Hollie.

The USA coasted to the title (winning the Junior Davis Cup to boot) with Julieta Pareja and Kristina Penickova recording straight set wins against France (Efremova/Langlais)

The 7th-8th play-off started late but Edie has just won the first match 6-4 6-1 Megan plays the top singles
