Thanks for the round ups as usual. Must take a while as I get bored after looking at 2/3 events lol.

 Thanks, Merv smile

It's a bit overkill really, I know that a J30 R1 result is hardly stop the press nobiggrin

And there's quite a lot at the moment, what with school holidays

But I do it in a 10 minutes slot, or whatever, with a drink (sometimes coffee, sometimes not smile) and it's quite peaceful)

TBH, I don't know about others but given the news and everything else online at the moment, it's nice to have something low-key and 'innocent' (kitten videos might be an alternative smile)

Exactly. Totally agree. I avoid the news as much as I can these days.

Im also on summer holidays (teacher) so have more downtime to follow tennis closer.

I watched quite a bit of Eric in junior Wimbledon and he served and volleyed a lot. Is that his game style or was he just trying it on the grass?

I can't really help, Merv, sorry - I know Rhys Lawlor's game quite well but haven't seen that much of Eric

I have only seen him on a few occasions but yes I hope they are working on it. He is/ was quite tall for his age and so serving and volleying might be a good tactic. Needs to work on consistency to hang in points a bit better and not leave the ball short (particularly his backhand) but he is progressing nicely and has the best chance at Loughborough academy along with Scott and Niall. Others may have different opinions though but I notice other juniors such as Oli and Mark trying to come forward regularly also (ie in Oli's match at Aldershot today). I'm all for it!

J60 Kigali

Kasra Shirazi had made the doubles final

But his doubles partner withdrew in singles, and therefore the two had to withdraw in the doubles too. Shame.

J60 Porto

Josh Craze won his QF and is into the SFs

As the same for Emilija Lebedevaite in the girls

Annabel Hristova is also through to the doubles SF

Africa and the Caribbean are well known to be the weakest ITFs and a great way to build up ITF ranking to get main draw entry/ranking into the British and European events and to get into the higher events.

There are loads of British players who are using these events to get their ranking up as the European events are much stronger. Entry fees are around £70/80 and that might just mean one match in qualifying. If they are in the main draw they can at least play doubles too and if they can get seeded theyve got at least a better chance of a good draw. Accommodation can be cheaper in areas of the Caribbean and Africa too and if you have family there - which some do, not sure about Daphne - it can be a good way of inflating ranking to get to the next step.

i will be interested in seeing how Daphne gets on in good European ITFS. IMO she is an ok player but definitely not one of the top 20 2010 players in GB. Hasnt done brilliantly in any of the normal LTA tournaments as beaten a lot by girls her own age. Has never been on the LTA radar at all
