I'm off out but for anyone around Hollie is warming up at present (stream link in CD's post)

I watched a lot of that match

Hollie lost 4-6 in the third set

But it was a 50:50 match - Hollie laid out some excellent clay tennis there

She started really well - intense, physical, aggressive

And took the first set quite easily

but I don't think, at her age, she has the endurance to keep that level up

She dipped in the second - balls had less on them, a bit shorter...

And the third set was a war of attrition and nerves

Hollie was 3-1 up but there were tons of breaks, it didn't really mean anything

She'll be disappointed, Popa didn't look very confident she was winning that match, but Hollie should be very pleased with her level and her achievements this week

It could be a Romanian double as top seed Yannick Alexandrescou (who beat Oli Bonding at Roland Garros) is through to the boys final. Hollie's next event is spearheading the British team attempting to qualify next week for the U16 European Summer Cup and Junior BJK Cup finals

Girls SF

(3) Giulia Safina Popa (ROU) d. Hollie Smart 3-6 6-2 6-4
