Girls: 2025 Wimbledon, grass (Week 28)

Yes overthinking is a good way to put it CD, she's not just relaxing into her shots and letting his happen. Her groundstrokes look a good 10mph slower than against Emma too although the camera could just be deceptive.

Not sure if the rain coming now helps, she was 30-15* up on the Americans serve and her opponent was getting a bit flappy.

Brooke has looked good in the parts I've seen, but a bit worried she might let this set slip through her fingers.

Was impressed with Dani Britton's approach though

She's very young (born 2010) and is someone who always looks rather lackadaisical, almost blasé, can't be bothered to move

But the other way of looking at that is that she's in control, not over-playing, not battling the ball, allowing the ball to do the work

She won the first set very nicely and it's 3-3 in the second

Agree about Brooke - it's been good but that second set is dreadfully close

Should have taken the first match point. Great forehand into the corner but overcooks the follow up. Second the American gets on top of the point and draws the error. Fortunately she gets a third and gets over the line.

Phew!

The break didn't work for Daniella sadly. Her opponent has come out with much more focus and a clearer game plan. Not lost a game yet.

I watched the first set and thought Frodin was playing so well. Mimi just didnt seem to have the answers and wasnt on her game. When they went in for the thunderstorm break she was shouting for something from her mum and looked not like herself, or I would say typical 17 year old. Remember very well what is was like having a 17 year old daughter, Anyway she got through in the end. Next match she most probably will smash it 6-0, 6-0.

Gar Brooke. Breaks back for *4-5, goes down *0-40, saves two with good hitting but overcooks a backhand to lose the set. Her Japanese opponent is quite far back and floating a lot of balls back in the defensively.

Would be quite disappointed if she ends up losing this, she was well in control.

Daniella stopped the rot at 5.

1-2* final set.

the rain break really didn't seem to help Dani or Brooke

Brooke missed a break point in the opening game of the third and getting increasingly ragged. She misses 40-15* to get the break back

*1-4

Daniella pulls it back to *3-3 but broken 3-4*
