I wonder if Megan Knight might play the finals in Prostejov.
You guessed correctly - the team has been announced as Megan, Liv and Grace, so Megan isn't promoted as I surmised like Hannah K to the under 16 team at the same stage
The under 12 girls lost 2-1 to Latvia (Sahara and Kaya lost competitive singles, before Sahara and Honey took the doubles. They face a must-win match against Cyprus tomorrow, to decide who finishes second in their group. The second team in their group faces the first in the other group on Sunday for a place in the final.
The under 12 girls came through their key group match against Cyprus to finish second in their group (Honey lost and Kaya won easily, before the duo combined to win the doubles in straights). The upshot is a match against Spain tomorrow, who topped the other group, to decide qualification for the finals.
It went down to the wire but the under 12 team eventually lost out 2-1 to Spain in the qualification match. Sahara lost 2 & 2 before Kaya claimed a 3 set victory. In the decisive doubles Honey/Kaya lost 10-7 in a match tiebreak.
You win some, you lose some. Like the under 16 boys the girls are seeded 3 in their qualifying group, but unlike the boys they end up in the weaker half on paper. France are the top seeds, including Ksenia Efremova, but the second seeds Greece look considerably weaker. Hollie Smart, Daniella Britton and Edie Griffiths need first to negotiate a match against Belgium. Two teams from the group qualify for the European finals, which in turn produces 6 for the Junior Billie Jean King Cup later in the year.
The under 18 team of Ruby Cooling, Sophia Christodoulou and Tegan Bush are also in qualifying action over the next 3 days.
Hollie won 6-3 6-2 and partnered Edie to win the doubles 6-4 6-0. They need to beat second seeds Greece to reach the finals, as expected.
The under 18s lost 2-1 to the strong Romanian team (both singles players being top 100 ranked juniors) with Sophia partnering Ruby to win the doubles via a match tiebreak. They play a consolation match against Bulgaria tomorrow
The under 16s play the strong top seeds France tomorrow for a seeding spot in the finals. Apart from the above mentioned number one, long-term rival for Hannah K, their number 2 hasn't lost a game yet this week.
The under 18s finish 7th, as they are in a 7 team group.
The under 16s gave France more of a match than anyone else this week, but still lost 3-0. Dani lost 3&1, Hollie a respectable 7-6(1) 7-5 against Ksenia and Dani & Edie lost the dead doubles on a match tiebreak.
The upshot is they head to Czechia for the finals on Monday, but will face one of the other group winners (Czechia, Romania or Poland). Czechia and Romania are very strong, with top 100 players, but Poland have two players of similar rank to Hollie. Win that match and they will be through to the Junior Billie Jean King Cup finals. Lose and they must win their next match.
