Excellent news Hannah.

If she were to win, have we ever had two different junior grandslams champs at the same time?

Here you go Mervatron:

The last time two different GB players held two different junior Slams at the same time was:

1954: Billy Knight (Australia) and Valerie Pitt (US)

The last time two different GB players held junior Slams at the same time was:

1955: Mike Hann and Sheila Armstrong (both US)

The last time a GB player held two different junior Slams at the same time was:

1984: Annabel Croft (Australia and Wimbledon)

Brilliant to have a junior in a grand slam final for the third consecutive year - all on different surfaces. The ITF article featuring interviews with Lilli and Hannah after today's matches is here  Tomorrow Lilli and Hannah open proceedings on court Simonne-Mathieu at 11am BST. (8) Hannah Klugman d. Rositsa Dencheva (BUL) 1-6 6-3 6-3

F

Lilli Tagger (AUT) v (8) Hannah Klugman

Boys F

Niels McDonald (GER) v Max Schoenhaus (GER)

Doubles SF

(7) Johnston/Willwerth (USA) d. (8) Bonding/Leach (GBR/USA) 6-4 2-6 [10-7]

It gets you more junior exemptions on the junior accelerator programme.

2024 JUNIOR ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME

Tour tournaments. These positions are allocated to the Top 20-ranked junior players that receive an

gain direct entry to the Main Draw of the applicable tournament where they would not otherwise
gain entry on the basis of their WTA / ITF World Tennis / National ranking. The ITF allocates only 1
AP position per tournament.

Tx

So she's got to be there on Dec 31st 2025?

Allez, Hannah ! (and Mika ! and anyone else !)

Of course, it's more useful to the players from countries that don't host major events as the others will get lots of wildcard opportunities at high level

Hannah says she's going to spend the next week adjusting to grass

And then her grass court season will kick off too (as before, Nottingham is the most likely, she says)

Re Junior Wimbly, as she's going up to #3 guaranteed, from what I understand, and as Wakana Sonobe has withdrawn, that means Hannah should be #2 seed at Junior Wimbly (assuming Emerson plays - and #1 if she doesn't)

Which is some mark to have on your back !

If I understand correctly, a key thing for Hannah in the year to come will be the number of adult tournaments she can participate in - which is not the same as the Junior Accelerator Programme, as those are like wildcards but count towards the total

The basic for a 16 year-old is 12.

As a Grand Slam finalist, she's now guaranteed one extra event i.e. 13

But if she finishes in the top-5, she gets bumped up to the max number i.e. 16 (you can't then keep your extra one i.e. 17 because 16 is max for everyone)

So, she's already got an uptick but needs the top-5 place in particular - although, of course, she's soon 17 after that, so it's just a question of extra adult tournaments in that time period, in Australia, say.

By making a Grand Slam final, she also gets an extra wildcard WTA/ITF allowance i.e. it's normally 4 and now goes up to 5

That's if I understand it correctly

The final is due to be played in Simonne-Mathieu.  I dont think this stadium has a roof and the forecast is for quite a lot of rain.  So I would expect a delay, or maybe they will play on one of the two other courts.  Would be good on Phillipe Chatrier before the Ladies final but I doubt they will give that honour to them.

Yes, they've only got three junior matches programmed for the Simonne-Mathieu and the weather is due to dry up in the afternoon so it will be no problem for them to wait until mid-afternoon to start the three matches and they'll get finished

It's not getting moved to Chatrier (IMO)

Just to point out that one of the German lads in the final was born in Cardiff, with a Scottish dad, and has GB nationality (as well as German)

Wonder if the LTA have been in touch with him ???

Such a shame the BBC couldn't bring at least some commentary on this match.

TNT aren't showing it either, but good coverage on Discovery+ with commentary.
