Boys & Girls: 2025 French Open, clay (Week 23)

Great win.
Hannah came up against Lilli earlier in the season on clay and Lilli won.

Lilli won in three sets a couple of months ago

And has had slightly easier matches - Hannah looked a little puffed at the end of that match today

But she did brilliantly, I thought - to make herself play on the front foot, when she knows she has a tendency to retreat. Some super forehands. The serve was good (that second serve ace on break point in the third was just priceless). And some great anticipation near the net

She started slicing too much in the third but I think that was tiredness. The moonballs are questionable but they do serve a purposed.

I think Hannah will be WR3 after this tournament unless Lilli Tagger wins both the singles and the doubles in which case she will be WR4.

Fab result! Thanks for the summary of her match CD

What a great accomplishment to make the final here from young Hannah, so nice to see

Excellent news Hannah.

If she were to win, have we ever had two different junior grandslams champs at the same time?

Germany are having a bit of a standout tournament

They've got TWO boys in the boys' singles final - title guaranteed for them

And two girls, playing together, in the girls' doubles final

Hannah has deferred her GCSE exams until Nov, presumably to focus on this tournament and Wimbledon.

I expect she will target junior no.1 ranking and all the exemptions and other rewards that generates, then play the main tour fully.

Also pick up a junior slam, or two on the way? Seems a good decision for Hannah. A little bit more time before seniors never did anyone any harm. Wish her well.

I wasn't aware that being #1 gave you anything special, does it?

I know that being top-5 does, and then there's top-10 and top-20, but not sure about no. 1?

Not that it's not nice to be#1, of course

Calculations have her at #3 at the moment, based on all results of everyone this week
