On paper an easy win in the end. Was she just slow at the start for those watching live?
Yes she was pretty awful for the first three games then start to show a bit of spark and served 2 great aces at some point. Was much more competitive by the end of the first set but a bit too late. She really started to look confident and like the player we know she can be during the second . I had to leave in the early part of the third but could see was the better player and had a really good chance to win. Well done hannah, delighted.
Local 'Favourite' (??) Efremova next. Maybe the audience to contend with but she is a level above.
Hannah is already the third highest seed left in to the tournament behind her doubles partner and WR1 Emerson Jones, and the younger Kovakova who are in the other half. Lots of banana skins left though but I notice Vujovic who won the Milan Grade A 2 weeks ago, lost to a Wildcard.

R1 losses for both Penickova twins (Kristina won the SFs last year and is JR 3 !!!)
So the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th seeds all lost in R1 !!!
NB The 2nd, 4th and 5th seeds are all in Hannah's half .......

Added to by the 3rd seed losing today. However it has to be said that the girls who beat the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seeds are all very strong, ranked in or just outside WTA500. Unfortunately the ITF favours those who play the junior events in its seeding interpolation (effectively you need to be WTA300 or better to merit a seeding), in the same way as Tennis Europe favours those who play its events over ITFs, thus creating the possibility of particularly tough round 1 matches for the seeds

I think you have to favour the ITF junior rankings for seedings unless you have an exceptional ATP/WTA ranking or it makes a mockery of the ITF junior circuit. Very few players qualify for the event on ATP/WTA rankings alone so what you're talking about is players with a high enough junior ranking that play a mixture of junior and professional events.
But agree this year's event is a little extreme. Crazy that Mia Pohankova isn't seeded and expected her to beat No. 4 seed Teodora Kostavic. Likewise Rosita Dencheva who beat the No. 2 seed is a former Top 10er now playing pro events.
But don't think you should be seeding players ranked between 450-500. And it keeps things interesting.
Seemed a straightforward win by Hannah, 6-1, 6-3. Slight wobble at the start of set 2 where she was broken but on paper seemed to be in control most of the match. Quite a few double faults still...
Kovacova (seeded 10) next who has not been winning so much recently??
