I have deliberately gone early with this to see if giving more time to vote helps both the numbers of votes but also helps people have time to consider what they think will happen. With Jack and Jake, Emma and Sonay, and the mens doubles strength as well as womens doubles having some actual contenders, this may be an interesting FO - or will it be the same as usual?!
For those who don't remember - the aim is to predict how many British main draw wins we will get in the 5 main events at the FO - mens and womens singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
In doubles, a win for an all British pair will count as 1 win, as will a win for a British/non British pair - eg Joe and Neal winning equals 1 win, Harri and Henry winning is the same.
For those who are interested, there is a full history of wins and who the closest predictor was since 2019 - you will see the FO has a wins range from just 9 to just 16 and is typically gives us less wins than the other slams, with an average of 12 and a total last season of 13.
I have taken this into account in setting the range of wins to vote on.
If you vote - when you vote - it is important to note that this is a COMPETITION and we need to know who votes and what number of wins they vote for so that we can keep track! If you vote 6 or less or 25 or more, please say the exact number you predict so we can track that in saying who is closest at the end!
Over the season , the closest predictors are given points and an overall winner is crowned. At the AO, goldfish got closest and won the event, and at last years FO, mdewey won and is our defending French Open champion. But goldfish leads the 2025 Race and is the one to beat (full table post AO is below - points awarded are per F1 grand prix allocation for the top 10 or equal in each slam).
NOTE, when it comes to being closest, it can be up or down - if we achieve 13 wins again this year, 12 or 14 are equally close and will be regarded as equally good predictions!
THE POLL / VOTING WILL CLOSE ON SATURDAY 24TH MAY AT MIDNIGHT AS PLAY BEGINS ON THE SUNDAY, 25TH MAY. NO RUSH TO VOTE AS CLEARLY DRAWS ARENT KNOWN AND THE QUALIES HAVENT TAKEN PLACE.
PS - the reason we have no competition in the FO 2022 was because, if I recall, I had a fit of pique and decided not to do it; but that is history - we still had 16 wins that year, we just didn't have a prediction competition
Reminder of the season long competition points allocation:
Pts
1 25
2 18
3 15
4 12
5 10
6 8
7 6
8 4
9 2
10 1
Spot on prediction = 5 bonus points
Shared position - players get the points for the position, not part points ie if 3 players are equal top, all get 25 points. 4th best predictor would still get 12 points only
I realise this is very blind but to enable me to track what is going on, I need to make an early vote, so I am voting 17 wins this year, 1 more than the best in recent years and 4 up on last year
So someone has voted and hasnt said what they voted for! If that was you, can you post and say what you voted for please! I cant track who wins unless we have a corresponding post for the vote!
