Arguably Emma has had a tough draw in both the last tournaments. I think last week the gal who beat her then took down the number 4 seed even more comfortably.

She's clearly at not too bad a level, all things considered, if well off her ultimate capabilities.
Just ( again, sorry ) there would maybe be one less of these things, ie. lack.of matches, if she would play qualifying.
This is purely anecdotal, but Alexandrova plays Anisimova in the semifinals, and these are the two players Emma beat in Melbourne. Although if I was being less charitable, both her opponents in Melbourne did not play well.

Emma is not in qualifying in Dubai.
Ashlyn Krueger WR40 is top seed in qualifying, so either Emma is absent or has yet another wild card.

She's in Dubai with her fitness coach so presumably has another wild card.

Yes, confirmed that Emma has a MD wildcard into Dubai, seemingly, with Jane O'Donoghue there as coach
Oh dear, that is a pity. Missed the opportunity again to be seeded in qualifying and to play (possibly !) two lower-ranked opponents.
Main draw is to be made Staurday at 1pm local time wwith play starting on Sunday

Oh dear, track record when Jane is there tends to be pretty poor! So she isjust really playing at it, no serious coaching set up on the cards. Hate to say it but looks like another WC in, first round out. Not very fair on others more deserving of a WC.

According to the Tennis Abstract surface speed ratings , Dubai is much quicker than Doha. Average speed is a rating of 1; Doha was 0.77 for the mens evet last held, Dubai is 1.14, so a fair bit quicker. Presumably same venues and surfaces for women as men.
