British Wins at Grand Slam Tournaments - predictions contest overview thread

2021 - 104 wins across the 4 slams for our best haul in a season
2025 - 103 wins from the first three slams. Just 2 wins needed in total from US Open to top the best year previously

And here is the updated year in table - Indy still leads the way, but a log jam behind and plenty of people who could catch him at the US Open! 30 points for a spot on prediction and then in line with F1 style points down the top 10 (top 12 or 13 in fact with ties)

Glad to have helped make it much more interesting with my non inspired Wimbledon prediction

goldfish could very easily have got a lot more than 6 points with her prediction of 41 wins.

I know, one win closer and she would have jumped to 15 pts and 40 overall!

Lots to predict for in the USO!

I wondered if anyone knows when the entry list for the new mixed format event at the US Open is due to be announced? As in confirmation of the 16 pairs actually playing - I believe it is 8 direct entries off singles ranking and 8 wildcards?

Im guessing our only possible contenders are Emma and Katie, unless a surprise left field Jack D entry comes in to get some play before the Open?!

These are the 8 pairs into the USO mixed directly

8 direct acceptances into US Open mixed doubles:

Navarro/Sinner
Anisimova/Rune
Swiatek/Ruud
Rybakina/Fritz
Paolini/Musetti
Pegula/Paul
Andreeva/Medvedev
Keys/Tiafoe

8 wildcards at some later date from 16 other entries

Good to see that the defending champions, Errani and Vavassori have been given one of the wildcards.

So do the winners get the same trophy etc as in a conventional US slam mixed doubles or is this a new competition entirely?

This is the US Open Mixed Doubles so should be the same trophy and a lot more money. Just less players, more focused on singles players, and a different scoring format (first to 4 games each set) and duration (over two days of play), and a different timing (week prior to US Open).

So it is completely different but for the same trophy and title.

Jury well and truly out!

But given that it is for the same title and there are Brits in it, at least at the entry list stage, then we will include it as part of our predictions event as, well, why wouldnt we - it is just a different and alien feel, just for the same trophy

Yes, nice to see some doubles players getting to compete in a doubles Slam tournament  Should have rather a good chance.

With the defending champs in you'd hope that the other two wildcards might go to doubles pairs also. Erranie and Vavassori also won the French this year.

Gadecki and Peers won the AO and Siniakova and Verbeek the Wimbledon title, maybe one or both of those could be contenders for the final WC places?

I wonder if Serena might play. Teasing again today on the practice court holding her youngest,

As the US mixed takes place from the 19th August, Ill ideally put the predictions thread up this next day or two and close it 19th. Which seems very early and doesnt allow for qualies to take place or main draws to be published.

And is leaving me with a dilemma. Although Id prefer to include the mixed, it compromises the prediction contest for what appears to be two pairs , Jack + and Emma +.

Id be interested in views from others - basically, should we include the mixed and therefore have all predictions done by 19th; or shall we exclude this year for the USO and get predictions in for Sunday 24th when main draw singles play is due to start?

Im happy to be flexible on this so Id be keen to see if there are any other views. Ill leave off putting up a prediction thread until the weekend coming, to see what people think.

My feeling is that the new system is basically an exhibition event. We do not include the invitation events like the legends doubles (or what ever it is called so we should not include this one either.
