One way to look at it is that she had MPs against her last time in earlier rounds - and then won the title - so that was pretty lucky, not representative
And that she had MPs against her this time - and still won a lot of rounds
And a SF at this level is very respectable, more than very respectable, indeed
Another way is that it's gone backwards this year, she looks to have lost some of the pep she had before, relying now not on timing and talent but rather simply on the drills she's done

Interesting CD. Sounds like something that should be very clear to her coaches and the work should be put in to get that pep back. Had it before, she sure as heck can have it again and more.
No real harm at this time in taking a step back to concentrate on other areas but then can come the time to assess the overall position and make any necessary adjustments

Very interesting CD. I thought Hannah did well to reach the semis given her form this year. I for one am not too concerned. Still very young and a lot to learn. I tend to look at Ella M, reached number 8 in the juniors and it has taken her time to transition, however she had stiff competition in the juniors , Fruhitova sisters etc. I wonder if the competition in the juniors is maybe heating up a bit for Hannah?
Yes, just to be clear, I am not at all worried about Hannah
A touch frustrated at times, that's for sure
But not at all worried- there is so much there to work with, so much that is good
(I don't think Ella would be a very good comparator, though - someone who makes the top ranks at age 14-15 should have a rather different trajectory to someone who makes it at 17-18 - certainly the LTA etc would be expecting it as such. Not that it really matters - we'd all agree that it's where you are at 20-22-25, say, that matters, not how promising you are at WTA 350 in the world at age 17, say)
I don't think missing out on the top-20 (which I think she will) and the accelerator programme will be a big deal either. Mika will get a big kick from the top-5. But the top-20 doesn't give a huge benefit, giving that Hannah will get wildcards from the LTA to the events of her choosing, pretty much on request, (even if not quite so many) and should have the ranking to make the cut for the lower ones too
