A few nice wins and points picked up by our lesser known players.
Ava Williamson has now got two counters

 as does Scarlet

Which was the whole reason more of the girls should have shown up no

Remind me - is it a point for a 1st q defeat for a 75k or do you need to win a match.

I'm the worst person on this forum for points (!!!!) but my chart says it's zero points for turning up but 2 points for a QR1 win (at a 75K)

Yes, you have to win a qualifying match for any ranking points ( WTA 125 is the lowest level that gives a point just for playing ). Still this was a great opportunity for 2 points from a QR1 win as some of our girls have indeed found.

Not a great start so far

Ava retired, as did Vic Allen (although that, at least, gave Alice an easy victory)

Ah, that explains it. I watched a couple of games of Alice and Vic before the first sit down and thought something wasn't right with Vic. The switch to the pro game doesn't seem to be working for her. I wonder how long she'll keep trying?

Ms Haverlag has one of the ugliest games of tennis I've seen in a while (although the serve is acceptable, I guess)

And Hep has just lost the first set in a TB

There's been more withdrawals, opening up 2 LL places. At the moment there are only 2 FQR losers with a WTA ranking, 1 of which is Holly. So unless Hep loses then Holly should get a LL place, but if Hep loses it will be 2 from Holly, Samardzic and Hep.

Hep is into a second set tiebreak after being in front most of the set.

Hep tried very very hard to lose that match - and finally she succeeded

TA - It matters not, but Haverlag doesn't have a ranking - she hasn't played singles since September last year.

Thanks Lambda - I misread the ITF site - that is actually her career high (or would be if I had got it right CH=1236 in 2019). I'll change my Word document so it doesn't get repeated.

Well, if the fates ordain that Samardzic has to get the second LL spot, and not Hep, then at least she's been drawn against Freya, which should give Freya more than a fighting chance
