Boys & Girls: J30 Loughborough, Great Britain - hard (week 40)

There's a bunch of low-level ITF junior events coming up and the first is a J30 in Loughborough

Lots of tiddlers, lots of 'big' names, lots of new names, chance for up-and-coming kids to shine

The first round of qualis was played yesterday

Girls

13 year-old Jessica Morrison beat the q1 seed

13 year-old Leah Bush (Tegan's sister) beat the q3 seed

13 year-old Tanika Nasheen beat the q6 seed

14 year-old Mia Tinsley beat the q5 seed

Boys

Seeding was far more reliable, with only the q4 and q6 losing

Not a surprise to see Megan beat Sophia comfortably. Sophia is very reliant on that big serve.
Good to see Abby putting some runs together, not seen her play for a while. Has she grown?

But the big serve may have been working really well smile

And Megan may STILL have annilhilated her

In the other girls semi, Mia Wainwright defeated Abby Kelliher, 7-5 4-6 6-2

So will play Megan in the final

In doubles:

Girls Dubs FINAL: Megan Knight/Lucy Bear v (4) Celine Ricaud/Isabella Moss

Boys Dubs FINAL: Rafe Samuel/James Hutchinson v Liam Channon/Ollie Knight

So, both Megan and Rafe are trying to do the double

Good going as Mia is a lot older and very consistent at this level.

I wonder if Megan will turn up at Liverpool.

Thanks, Rose !

My ITF site is useless at the moment.

As far as I know, this is not only Megan's first title, but also only her second ITF event (and the first was a rather ambitious J100, if I remember right)

She's been on imperious form, according to the scores, all week

Still only 13
