Scott manages to find a way to come through a close contest, especially when he was behind in the second set. Thought his forehand looked a particularly good shot and played some important drop shots at key moments which added some nice variety. Sets up a battle of the brits with Niall!
From Tennis Europe: "We predicted a possible upset based on the two easy wins Spains Izan Banares Lasala had scored over second seed Niall Pickerd-Barua in recent months. However, the British player spectacularly turned the tables today, conceding just three games in just over an hour of play to guarantee himself a bronze medal at least and be the first player to book his spot in the semi-finals. After the match, he told us, I know Izan is a very good player and it was not going to be easy. I have lost to him twice before, so I had to be on my feet, literally. But I felt confident walking onto the court. I played to my strengths and it worked. The scoreline doesnt describe the battle very well because he played well too but I think I just played better today."
Unfortunately the semi is scheduled over on court 6, which is unstreamed. at 9am BST

Niall has defeated Scott twice this year but Scott has just pulled off an emphatic win today. In the final he plays a frequent doubles partner. Niall is only the second Brit to reach the under 14 final - the other being Kyle Edmund in 2009

I imagine the girls final will be on centre court and Jana is still in the doubles so that may be also on centre. Surely the boys final will be on court 1 at least?
Whats our history like in terms of success in this event in the past? And are there similar European Championships for under 16 and 18 ages?
See my previous post for the answer to your first question. Yes there are under 18 and under 16 championships over the next 2 weeks, and our record in those is equally poor. - just 1 winner (Lee Childs in the under 18s in 2000) and no finalists, though we have won several doubles titles between the three events.

Sorry David - I seldom read up the thread, my bad! And thank you!
Scott lost the first set 6-0 but has just taken a topsy-turvy second 6-4. The stream is available here Meanwhile Megan is a set up in the bonus draw final (for early losers)
