Excited by the extremely natural tennis that Sahara puts out there, especially being one year young, only having turned 10 this year

Megan is also one year young (as is Grace) - looking forward to that final - Megan looks a lot stronger, growing up, putting on muscle - it's good to see

Exciting prospects. Looking forward to watching Megan vs Daniella tomorrow!

Just dipped into the U14 girls final and it's very much as expected so far

Megan is that bit more dynamic, Dani has some good power but she's a little flat-footed, a little laborious in her shots

It's not a major criticism - she's quite a tall girl - and someone like Lindsay Davenport or Safina played very much the same way as a junior (although they, obviously, were both VERY tall)

However, Megan's tennis is more exciting, especially for her age (although, tbf, she's born Feb 2011 and Dani is Nov 2010 so there's not much in it, really, it just 'looks' more on paper)

6-3 to Megan

Megan won in straights and also bagged the doubles title with Daniella. Under 12s have reached the semis

(2) Megan Knight d. (1) Daniella Britton 6-3 6-4

The under 12 finals are set, featuring 2 members of the under 12 boys Tennis Europe Summer Cup (under 11 winner Max Hodkinson being the other) plus Naina Kapoor from the girls team that won the Tennis Europe Winter Cup. The girls final is scheduled for 10am tomorrow on the Lexus Court (Court 5) followed by the boys final :

U12 Boys F

Frederick Fabricius v Oskar Laskowski

U12 Girls F

Naina Kapoor v Marlena Koberska-Wasiak

Annabel won the consolation - finishing 5th overall with Daisy Wootton 6th. Leah Bush retired against Daisy

The 14U switched to a feed in consolation draw recently (used to be round round robin into knockout like the rest)
Great format as it means that every loser until the semi finals feeds back into the consolation draw so it means there are some great matches still in the consolation draw. Also means that if you are unlucky enough to meet the top seed first round you can still finish 5th. I believe the 14U orange bowl has the same format (not sure if the 12 does)

Downside is that you can reach the quarter finals but end up not finishing in the top 8!

Marlena has recently switched nationalities on her tennis IPIN. Wouldnt have been eligible otherwise

It looks like it is another name I will have to get used to how to spell (why can't we have more Leah Bush or Megan Knight type namessmile) as she has just won.  Looking at her Tennis Europe record it appears that her first event with British nationality was the Lexus Junior International West Hants in June

U12 Girls F

  Marlena Koberska-Wasiak  d. Naina Kapoor 6-4 6-3

You're a good person - it is a sign of my stupidity and not disrespect to the players but I've given up with some names, they're either too long or too complicated - there's Mika Stoj, Felix B-Evans (can never remember if he's 'le' or 'el' in the middle, and one 'n' or two?), Tia's name is just impossible, as is Kouros', Teddy P seems sufficient, and it's not just 'foreign' names - all the Scottish names - are they Mc or Mac? and Mc-lowercase letter or Mc-Uppercase letter - and does it matter????

(PS I've got a first name that has been mis-prounounced completely whilst living in the US, and mis-spelled sometimes too - and Frenchified while in France - which sounds quite different - while my last name was just misprounounced - but I never cared or bothered about it - if it makes it easier for others, that's fine by me)

But a BIG welcome to Marlena K-W biggrin

Just seen on insta that Scott is joining the national academy next month. I know Eric is too. Anyone know if Niall is and what girls are? Sounds like it might be quite a big intake!

Good to hear of well deserved places at the academy for scott and eric. Niall also deserves a place in my opinion as those 3 currently sit top of the Race to Monte Carlo Tennis Europe rankings! Would have thought Megan would get a place too?
