British Womens Grass Court Masters - Fantasy vote! - Semi Final, Match 1

Semi finals, the fabulous 4 in the women's grass game.

Vote for who you think will win in this British Grass Masters - vote will close at 11pm Wednesday night.

Imagine the match is being played today, the venue is Surbiton in honour of it being the last season of grass season tournies there.

If there is a tie, I will let the vote run one more hour until midnight. If it is still tied, I will then let it run overnight until 7 am to see if any overnight votes. If still tied, then we will call it a draw and the player who won most matches on grass in the season (ie the higher seed) will get through as a sort of countback method.

I think this would be tough but Harriet would win through in a three setter.

These run until 11 tonight and then the final will be up and run until 11 Thursday. Unless we have ties, of course!

I've gone for Sonay as, sadly, I feel Harriet would have another implosion, even though I think she's still (just) capable of playing better tennis at her best than Sonay. But Sonay seems like a better match player and much more able to steadily close things out.

Thanks Tanaqui!! You are the first person to comment, whoop whoop!!

I was worrying this was an exercise in self indulgence! It isn't - it is a major tennis event and the players need our support!!

I've enjoyed the event - it's a lot of fun. My only criticism is that (especially in the first round) it rather flooded the "recent posts" page, which I mainly use to navigate the forum, when there were a lot of "actual tennis" threads going on (e.g. MS, WS, MD, WD, XD, Boys Q and main, Girls Q and main, Wheelchair, U14s at Wimbledon alone...) and it made it much harder to find those. When you were doing the first rounds, especially, "actual tennnis" threads ended up all the way down at the bottom of page 2 on "recent posts". So you may want to look at running something like this at a much quieter point in the year. smile

Ah, yeah - that was a little self indulgent of me, I didnt think that through - I navigate by thread type so only look in predictions thread and see these (as well as TA's annual rankings prediction ones) and it doesnt appear that way to me, but I can see why that might be the case for others!

Sorry!

The mens will take place after Newport is over, so to that end shouldnt interfere in the same way, hopefully!

Good feedback!

Although I am not sure it is one I will continue with next year, it is of a moment. But other ideas will come to mind and I will trial those at various points in the future, some land some don't!

Yes, I also almost always navigate by the recent posts option and we had about 2 pages ( ie. 50 threads on my settings ) of threads with last posts in the last 24 hours

And the closest battle yet is all over as Harriet wins a tense and tight 3 setter. Into the final
