Boys: 2024 Wimbledon (Week 28)

CHarlie Swaine is JWR 1036

Playing the 12th seed, JWR 15

Talk about David and Goliath

And yet Charlie came out SO pumped, flying, and took the first set really easily - the other guy didn't know what had hit him

Now all a lot more equal between the two of them

Not sure the rain break will help Charlie, but so be it....

 Allez, Charlie !!!!!

What a great match, what a great match - he won in two sets - really took the match to the other guy and throttled it

Charlie comes through 6-2 7-5 against his seeded opponent, whose body language was poor after every error he made (there were plenty)

I saw a little - partly to see the French guy (who, tbh, played grass tennis far better - the score was fair)

Neither Luke nor Charlie played in Junior Wimbly last year so that's 90 points here for each of them

Charlie is ranked below 1000! Im amazed he got a wild card given his ranking, but thats more than justified it! Whats his story and why isnt he higher? How old is he?

I don't often but let's give all credit to the LTA

As I put above, CHarlie Swaine is JWR 1036

and beat the 12th seed, JWR 15

Several of us noted in this forum how well Charlie played at the nationals in spring

But he lost in the SFs, and didn't get anything as a result

But the LTA must know him, and have seen how he did in the nationals, and gave him a wildcard

(even though he lost in the first round of qualis back in March at Loughborough, for example)

He also got one last week to Roehampton but lost to the Finnish boy in R1

But, goodness, didn't he do well today - and thoroughly justified the LTA's faith in him

The TNNS app is showing Max Carrier as German - presumably an error? Hes not got any German background at all?
