Girls: 2024 Wimbledon (Week 28)

Qualifying starts tomorrow at Roehampton for this, with Hannah Klugman, Mimi Xu and Mika Stojsavljevic in the main draw on ranking. Roehampton wildcards went to Gabia Paskauskas, Hephzibah Oluwadare, Daniela Piani, Isabelle Lacy, Hollie Smart, Brooke Black, Allegra Korpanec Davies and Flora Johnson.  Since all the British qulifiers at Roehampton are in the qualifying draw here, it appears likely that the same 8 have received main draw wildcards

Erin Pearce had a good run at Roehampton but draws the girl who beat Hannah

QR1

(qWC) Erin Pearce v (q12) Shiho Tsujioka (JPN)

(q2) Yoana Konstantinova (BUL) v (qWC) Tegan Bush

Hannah Read v (q10) Christasha McNeil (USA)

(q3) Mika Buchnik (ISR) v (qWC) Ciara Moore

(qWC) Hannah Rylatt v (q9) Nellie Taralia Wallberg (SWE)

(qWC) Ruby Cooling v (q14) Ksenia Efremova (FRA)

Oscar - any match scores on junior qualis results would be MUCH appreciated too - I don't think there's any livescores for that

How are out 10.30 players doing? Ruby? Hannah R? Ciara?

(and for the boys too of course, in the boys thread)

We've had two MTBs - and lost both of them - poor Ciara Moore lost her MTB 8-10

And Hannah Rylatt lost hers, 4-10

Ruby also lost, 3 & 4

Tegan Bush gets a lovely win against the q2 seed 6-3 6-4.

Isabelle Wong also wins 6-4 6-2 against the q7 seed so nice win for her too.

Wimbledon continue their recent habit of doing the main draw before qualifying is over. Gabia has the short straw of the second seed and Roehampton semifinalist. Mika has an intriguing match with the highly touted Akasha Urhobo

Well, only looking ar R1, those don't seem too bad in fact, even though - obviously - all the wildcards 'should' lose

But looking at the girls' grass form, based on Roehampton

the 7th seed, Kovackova, is the girl who was really not into playing and whom Ruby beat terribly easily earlier this week, so Flora should take heart

Laura Samson is second seed but has been very up and down - losing at least one set a couple of times, and Gabia is on good form

The Chilean 14th seed lost in R1, 6-1 6-1, this week. So Daniela should have every chance

Ivanova lost very easily to Gabia this week so Isa Lacy should also take heart too

Rolls lost in R1 too, so allez Hep

The Kazakh girl is very playable too - Brooke should fancy her chances

Basically, none of the girls who were playing really well this week at Roehampton feature in that list (with the possible exception of Laura)

Hollie Smart, having played Kristina Penickova in Roehampton, now gets the twin sister, Annika, in R1 of Junior Wimbly

Dani was one point away from the first set when the rain came, and on resumption she has held to take the first set 6-4. Brooke has just lost the first set of her match 6-3

Brooke lost in three.

Dani served for the match at *5-4, missed a match point and lost the third set 5-7. Ouch, especially against an opponent who was not great.
