RE: Boys: J300 Roehampton, grass (Week 27)

He gets a net 122 points with nothing for the doubles which would put him up to around 226 but would be affected by other results.

He's currently on 242.75 points - plus 122 makes it 364.75 points which is JWR 196?

Henry Jefferson is WR 224 and has 1/2 a point more than Mark would be on - so he would be just behind him as Simon says - 200th place is on 408 points currently

Thanks. I thought my calculations might be wrong!

... and a win for Charlie Robertson too against the 4th seed Hayden Jones.  2 in the semifinals.  Lets hope they can carry the form into next week...

That's very impressive. Well done Charlie. And good luck to both in the semis.

Had a fun day today with my first visit to this tournament! Watched Mark Ceban for a bit until unfortunately his opponent retired but I was really impressed with what I did see from Mark- he is so tall for his age and has a real aura about him. He raced to a 5-1 lead, through big hitting and big serving. he moves so well too for his height and has great volley technique which really cuts through the grass court. From what I saw he was playing top level junior tennis way above his ranking (think he has the star quality potentially). He took a photo with me after and seems really grounded and confident! The other boys match I saw was the doubles (jefferson and Gusic Wan) which went to a final set tiebreak which was a fun match with Jefferson very encouraging of Gusic Wan (they were so happy afterwards and loved the small crowd watching). Charlie robetson was very impressive too in his match completely dominating his opponent who was the higher ranked player. Controlled the mtach from start to finish but his opponent seemed to lose his way and head. Charlie is a great mover and served very accurately. Great to have 2 brits in the semis.  Also I bumped in to Oli Bonding who seemed in good spirits despite his injury. He seems nice and was good to see him supporting the Brits!

Also I wanted to watch more of Mark in a full match so I'm going again tomorrow! :)

Glad you enjoyed your day and thanks for the reports.  If you go tomorrow you can also see some of the Wimbledon qualifying at the same venue.  Did you get any sense of whether Oli's injury has healed sufficiently to allow him to play at Wimbledon?

Charlie's semi-final opponent has not dropped a set all week, won a J500 recently and led Czechia to the 2023 Junior Davis Cup

QF

(WC) Mark Ceban d. (15) Max Schoenhaus (GER) 5-1 rtd
Charlie Robertson d. (4) Hayden Jones (AUS)

SF

(WC) Mark Ceban v Rafael Jodar (ESP)
Charlie Robertson  v (7) Maxim Mrva (CZE)

Yes, I'd just realised, from the OoPs, that unless I'm mistaken, tomorrow you'll get the Sfs of the J300 and all thQR1 of Junior Wimbledon

Now, that's a really juicy package

Thanks I'm glad I went! I was going to mention Oli's injury - from what I saw he had no obvious strapping or boot on and seemed to be walking normally and buzzing about. If I had to guess if he was ready for wimbledon next week I would say Yes from the brief time I saw him so fingers crossed!

Does Ceban have a wildcard into Junior Wimbledon. Pretty exciting times in both the men's and the women's side, with a few really good talents breaking through or looking to break through in the next few years
