I thought it was just Bouzkova's defence yesterday, but actually watching this match the court seems weirdly slow for grass?
Grass must be drying out! Emma 6-4 set 1 and 3-0 up in second set. PS why cant they get their rebroadcasting facts right? It isnt Emmas maiden Eastbourne tournament she has played here before!

As far as I can see it is Emma's maiden appearance in this Eastbourne International tournament.

And nicely wrapped up.
She just confirmed that herself in the post-match interview.

Now I thought someone a couple of year ago saw her in qualies there? Sorry my mistake.
Emma looking menacing. That second set very one-sided.
Enjoyed the commentary with Annabel Croft. Always sounds so interested in the players, no harking back to her playing days. Refreshing.
I guess in her case that would be difficult given she retired at 21.
Not really. She still played at a decent level and got through a few rounds at several GSs but manages to be more interested in current players rather than those from the 80s.
That win moves Emma up another 20 places to 148 in the live rankings, now GB number 4 just 1 point behind Lily. It was rather reminiscent of her play in the US Open in 2021 when she often started with a few close games before changing up to a new level, taking game after game with her opponent hardly getting a look in.

Katie and Emma are on centre court but Billy and Charlie and Harriet v Kenin are on court 2. I guess they have to have the number 1 seed, Fritz on Centre Court but I'd be a teeny bit disappointed.
But Katie's and Emma's will hopefully provide a lot of entertainment.
