R1: DART, Harriet (GBR) WC 101 (CH=84 2022) v BOUZKOVA, Marie (CZE) 37 (CH=24 2022) R1: BOULTER, Katie (GBR) 31 (CH=27 2024) v Qualifier R1: MIYAZAKI, Yuriko Lily (GBR) WC 147 (CH=133 2024) v MERTENS, Elise (BEL) 32 (CH=12 2018) R1: RADUCANU, Emma (GBR) WC 165 (CH=10) v STEPHENS, Sloane (USA) 48 (CH=3 2018) They met in the Australian Open in 2022 with Emma winning in three.
If Harriet wins she will play the top seed Rybakina in R2. If Katie wins she will probably play 5th seed Ostapenko in R2. If Lily wins she will play 3rd seed Paolini in R2 If Emma wins she will play 2nd seed Pegula in R2.

Will Mertens actually play? She was injured in Birmingham with a glute problem. Surely if there's any doubt she will withdraw with Wimbledon just a week or so away.
Bouzkava will make it tough for Harriet but from what I saw at Birmingham is not unbeatable.
Stephens was terrible and looked to basically give up in the match I saw. Depending upon which version of Sloane turns up Emma should win.
Rybakina withdrew ill in Berlin so could well withdraw and Pegula is still playing there so may not feel the need to play Eastbourne as well.
Always so many withdrawals in the past here in recent years let's hope this year isn't the same.

Im not sure, would take one or two withdrawals if the Brits prospered!
Yes Ranah. She did well last year but ran out of steam, stayed solid and calm and as you say CD, her opponent gave her a lot of help but she put herself in the position to take advantage, and still had to get it down.
Fantastic.
Yes, very well done by Ranah.
What a pity that circumstances have combined such that she didn't even get a chance to get into Wimbledon Q.
At least she has had a chance to show her potential and move up the rankings
Last week's 17 points have taken her to live ranked 600, and our top ranked teen, and these 13 ( net 12 ) points she has so far added here have her moving well up the 500s.
