Hard to see any wins there

But there's $3,300 approx, and a ranking point, for turning up so at least it's better than nothing

Ana Bogdan hasn't played any events since Roland Garros

And seemingly was thinking of missing the grass tour altogether

So it's possible that she's not really into grass, and/or playing, and will give Ella at least a chance

Bucsa has only has one grass match, and played pretty poorly at that one
But I think Ranah is not quite strong enough in her head to take out a top-100 player yet

Eastbourne qualifying is always a funny one. A stronger international entry and a slightly weaker GB entry. But a deserved opportunity for all our players.

I remember that Stoiber almost beat Paolini last year.

Well, I thought Bucsa would be dodgy, but I didn't think she'd look QUITE so disinterested

Ranah did a nice job in that set, taking it 6-2

But now's the crunch time ..... allez, Ranah !

5-5 in the second set and Ranah still in the set with a chance. C'mon!

Great win there for Ranah! (if the WTA site is to be believed - which sometimes it isn't.)

What a weird weird match

Brilliant for Ranah to get the win but what on earth was going on with Bucsa?

I guess who cares - thrilled she saw it out (with a huge amount of help, it's true)

Take it to the bank, Ranah

Oh, yes - saw it live on Bet365 - she won biggrin

Thanks to a double fault on MP from Bucsa that was miles wide

And after Bucsa had not run for the ball previously (which didn't really take much running, tbh)

Bucsa didn't care - it was just face time

But great for Ranah either way biggrin

That's a massive CH win for Ranah - none of our four playing today have ever beaten a player from the top 100 (tennis abstract).

Yes Ranah. She did well last year but ran out of steam, stayed solid and calm and as you say CD, her opponent gave her a lot of help but she put herself in the position to take advantage, and still had to get it down.

Fantastic.

And yes mess-up in that LTA release. Neither Heather nor Marni are here in the main draw.

Great to see Ranah get that win. I watched he in junior Wimbledon last year and with that serve and court craft I thought grass would be a good service for her.
