The under 14 grass court championships are through to the quarter-finals. The top 3 boys seeds are all comfortably through, but 4th seed Neo Armus lost to Aran Selvaraasan. In the girls event second seed Daisy Wootton lost 2 & 2 to 2011 born Leah Bush (Tegan's younger sister) while other 2011s Liv Zingg and Megan Knight won in straight sets. Top seed Daniella Britton was taken to 3 by the wildcard CD mentioned (Clarice Ouvarova) but had an easier passage in round 2.
Regarding the question of allocation of wildcards for Wimbledon last year Mark Ceban opted to play J30 events in Moldova rather than this tournament (or the Tennis Europe Roehampton qualifier) so presumably he knew that he would get a wildcard, but perhaps the Committee are not making any early decisions this year.
Bit of an upset in the boys as Eric Lorimer is knocked out by Jan Janda (a new name to me)
So Scott v Neil is the 'expected' SF in the lower half
But in the top half we have Jan v Aran
**If Jan loses, it's a bit of an LTA nightmare sort of scenario - do you still give the place to Eric, as top seed, based on all his other wins? Or do you give it to Jan as he's just beaten Eric? Obviously, most federations will do the first, and try and offer some other 'perk' to Jan - a wildcard into something different, or a place on a training camp or whatever. But it's not easy....
According to the tournament Fact Sheet "This event's winner and runner-up will automatically qualify for the New Worldwide 14&Under, Junior Invitational event in Wimbledon during the second week of the Championships. Players will be awarded Hotel, Full hospitality, Transportation and an exclusive Accreditation to The Championships. Players must have a GBR IPIN to be eligible to accept the wildcard and be in good standing with the LTA & AELTC."
So assuming there are no problems with the last clause the winner between Jan and Aran will win a place, along with the winner between Scott and Niall in the bottom half. Eric is entered for the Tennis Europe U14 qualifier at Raynes Park, so still has a chance to claim a place - or he may end up with one of the 8 discretionary wildcards awarded to 'top 8 in the world' players.
Jan reached the quarter-finals of the Bolton Category 1 event, beating a player who is now ranked 3 in Europe, before losing to Niall

Yes, I realise, I think I explained myself badly
What I mean is: if Jan loses against Aran, he doesn't get an automatic place. All fine. But if the LTA decide to give Eric a discretionary place, that puts them in a difficult position, to justify giving it to Eric who has just lost to Jan, who has not been awarded one himself.
(Is Grace any relation to Scott, by the way? I'm assuming not but if she's 2011 then it's possible, yes?)

The LTA cannot give Eric a discretionary place - according to Colette, last year at least, it is an independent Professional Tennis Committee who are supposed to take account of "WTN Ranking, UTR Ranking, Tennis Europe Ranking Results at leading 14&U International Tournaments including Les Petits As, Stockholm, Maia, Orange Bowl Any other relevant criteria that the Professional Tennis Committee / 14&U Championships Referee deem fit"
Eric's position will be replicated probably elsewhere in the world where the qualifiers were too early for discretionary wildcards to be decided, so I expect there will be other 'top 8' players who lost in regional qualifiers to someone who didn't end up qualifying - but nevertheless the 'top 8 player' gets a wildcard.
Scott and Grace represent different counties, so I guess aren't related
So, if we're going from Colette last year, that means the top 8 ranked players qualifiy anyway
Entry Criteria
Number of places
Top 14&U ranked players - 8
Asian grass court tournament, Saga Club, Japan - 2
South American grass court tournament, Copa Cosat, Brazil - 2
Tennis Europe, Roehampton, UK - 1
Tennis Australia, 14u Australian Championships Wodonga Tennis Centre - 1
LTA Qualification Tournament, LTA Grade 1 East Glos, UK - 2
So that means Eric, and Niall, and Scott, are all guaranteed entry anyway, yes?
As they're currently 1, 5, and 6= on the list
So if Niall, say, makes the final here, his place here will be re-attributed to someone else, because he's in already? And it'll be re-attributed on a discretionary basis, according to WTN/UTR/etc criteria, as you've listed above ?

I haven't seen any list ranking players globally - I imagine you are referring to the current Tennis Europe rankings. How they fit into the global scene I have no idea. I expect Eric would make the top 8, but doubt whether Niall or Scott would be included

Last year they passed the wildcards down the line. Eg if any of the players who made the finals in the grass G1 and the TE had already qualified for the 14U Wimbledon event, then the wildcards went to semi finalists. Could be a similar situation this year
Daniella and Megan have both made the G1 final so are certain now of a Wimbledon place (finalists at this G1 are guaranteed a place) but they were the 2 obvious choices anyway. If they go on to make the final at Roehampton the wildcards from there will probably go to the semi finalists
Jan could get his wildcard based on that and Eric a discretionary one

Grace isnt related to Scott. She has a twin sister who doesnt play tennis, and no older brother
Daniella (2010) and Megan (2011) both won their SFs very easily
So both girls are confirmed as qualifiers for the U14 Junior Wimbledon Championships
Boys results not up yet
