The East Gloucestershire club is hosting the under 14 grass court championships this week, with the two finalists in both singles events earning entry to the Wimbledon under 14 tournament. Although I speculated that Eric Lorimer would be given one of the 8 discretionary places at Wimbledon he is here as top seed, so presumably has not been granted one so far.

All the main TE ranked players are here, with round 1 completed today for the boys. Recent Cat 1 semifinalist Isaac Sallu lost 6-4 6-0 to Dash Green, but Eric Lorimer, Niall Pickerd-Barua and Scott Watson all won. Half of the girls matches have yet to complete but Liv Zingg was amongst the early winners.

THe girls draw is pretty loaded - interesting to see the wildcard to Clarice Ouvarova who trains in Florida, I believe, and has just started out on ITF events - she's playing Dani Britton who's top seed

Re U14 Wimbly, I'd have thought Megan is a shoo-in, and yet she's in the draw too. So maybe Eric playing doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't got a wildcard - maybe they're all playing for the grass experience, even if they already have a spot ensured?

But Ellison Minnaar has won through to the SFs

Dan Hughes is into the semis in doubles

Matt Upton is into the SFs

Anya Taylor is in QFs in singles and SFs in dubs

In the girls, Casey Mauro is through to the QFs

In the boys, Issah Ali got a R1 win but lost in R2

Edrick Chery lost in R1

Issah is in the dubs SFs too

Sofia Omodu qualified but lost in R1

Regarding the question of allocation of wildcards for Wimbledon last year Mark Ceban opted to play J30 events in Moldova rather than this tournament (or the Tennis Europe Roehampton qualifier) so presumably he knew that he would get a wildcard, but perhaps the Committee are not making any early decisions this year.

 Bit of an upset in the boys as Eric Lorimer is knocked out by Jan Janda (a new name to me)

So Scott v Neil is the 'expected' SF in the lower half

But in the top half we have Jan v Aran

**If Jan loses, it's a bit of an LTA nightmare sort of scenario - do you still give the place to Eric, as top seed, based on all his other wins? Or do you give it to Jan as he's just beaten Eric? Obviously, most federations will do the first, and try and offer some other 'perk' to Jan - a wildcard into something different, or a place on a training camp or whatever. But it's not easy....
