There used to be WCs for the winners of the UK ITF100s?
Which ranking date is used? By 24/6 Harriet is ranked 107 as things stand, and less likely to improve this in the remainder of the clay than some around her...
I would give Kerber one as a past champion. She is also not long back from maternity leave (Jan). She's played as much as Emma has, as a reference. Wouldn't touch Halep with a bargepole.
Kerber has at least won 3 matches in a row at Miami and Rome. Halep hasn't won any in her comeback.
To be fair, Halep came back more recently. But yes, point agreed with.
I completely forgot about Kerber. She would be a definite for me with her grass pedigree.
Also hope we prioritise the youngsters for qualies, which to be fair has happened recently. I would give one to eg Katie Swan if shes back in time though.
Yes, I think a bit harsh to lob Kerber in with Venus. Angie has beaten a top ten player this year already, and Kudermotova, who is inside the top 20, twice. Considering her loses were to Iga, Danielle Collins and a very good Emma in Stuttgart, I would say she's very much at the standard.
I cant recall exactly, but when Wimbledon have given past stars wild cards it tends to be those who have done well at Wimbledon and been big at this event, not in general. Added to that the additional caveat of will they actually be competitive and deserving from that perspective. I am not sure Id expect any of those listed above to get wildcards, the first 3 for the reasons Nix gives, the latter two - wozniacki has never been past the 4th round at W, Osaka never past the third round.
Jon has said here much of what I was going to say. AELTC see themselves as the custodian of the grasscourt game and seek to reward those that do well on it. As Jon says Wozniacki hasn't got past the 4th round, although she has got success at Eastbourne on many occasions which she could make her case with. Osaka has done nothing of note on grass. I wouldn't expect either of them to receive WCs. Kerber is a past Wimbledon champion and returning from maternity leave. She set up and works with the AELTC on the ownership and running of the Bad Homburg tournament and the AELTC can give WCs at Bad Homburg (hence Katie S and Sonay having WCs there in the past). I'm fairly certain in return Kerber will get a WC at Wimbledon if she asks for one. Halep is also a past Wimbledon champion, but she hasn't played much so is less certain. I don't think her drug ban will be an prohibitive factor given the ruling that it was contamination. I hope they've got past the obligatory awarding of a WC to Venus.
Jodie, Lily, Hev, Emma are definites. Marni, Sonay, Hannah, Mika with the play-off WCs, Mimi with her WC from the U18 National and Clervie Ngounoue I expect to be the qualifying WCs.
The only Brit I'm not sure where to put is Fran, would she get a MD or Q WC? If Fran gets a MDWC not sure who the last QWC would go to.
I'd like to think that Millie Rajecki would get some recognition for her success in the US this last year, reaching 2 in the ITA rankings but unless she wins the NCAA Individuals championship this week I don't think she will even be under consideration. She is guaranteed a place in the WC play-offs if she signs in.
Sophie DL has done well in her few events back and her story would generate lots of media coverage which is one of the reasons for WCs so could possibly be in consideration, but would probably need to go well in the early grass events if she plays them to be considered.

Would be an interesting decision to give a wild card to Halep. While it was accepted (by CAS not the original tribunal) that contamination was the likely reason, she was still found to have committed a doping violation.
Might be an unpopular take, but I think this is the year I wouldn't give Hev one. She seems less committed to singles now, turning up to a tournament the other week and just playing doubles, and a sporadic calendar. Give her a wc for doubles and mixed and send her to the olympics in the same but maybe its time for the passing of the torch.

Am not sure Heather was accepted into singles qualifying the other week, but the point is an interesting one. She probably won't need wild cards in doubles.
Emma will be close by the looks of it. There's a few injured at the moment still on that list (Muchova, Fernandez, at least). Cornet retiring which moves Jodie another place up.
