Which British women's player will win the most grass court season matches in 2024?

Day 34 of 43 - so Katie and Sonay will end tied. Emma is still in and a semifinal is what she needs to win outright , and the same for Harriet who is a round behind Emma. Emma feels like there is definitely one more win in her, will there be two? Getting interesting!

TOTAL Name
8 Katie Boulter
8 Sonay Kartal

7 Emma Raducanu **
7 Naiktha Bains

6 Harriet Dart **

6 Amelia Rajecki
6 Emily Appleton

In the womens doubles, Liv's win today ensures she will top the wins race for doubles. Well done to Liv for the most wins on grass this season and hope she can add more wins to this

Will provide final table at end of the British doubles interest but here is the current table

edit - I forgot Sam and Eden could top 7 wins with a Wimbledon title - but its highly unlikely !

TOTAL Name
7 Liv Nicholls
6 Harriet Dart

3 Tara Moore
2 Eden Silva
2 Emily Appleton
2 Heather Watson
2 Lily Miyazaki
2 Sam Murray-Sharan

For those of you sad about the grass court season ending in 10 days or so, dont be upset! I have decided to extend it.

I know some people dont like fantasy stuff and that is fine. But I decided I could use the above wins list and have an end of grass season finale - a fantasy British Grass Court Masters.

More will follow but in essence the top British players based on grass wins this season will be pitted against each other and you will get the chance to vote on who would become the British champion. Head to head match ups. Im still to decide exact number of players (8 or 16) and still to determine seedings basis but it will link back to this.

So if this is your thing or you just want some post grass fun , keep an eye out!

its all down to Emma - 2 wins and she takes it; 1 win and its a three way tie; no more wins and her wrist hurts too much and its a two way tie!

just kidding Re the wrist - I predicted Emma, so - go Emma!

With Eden and Sam losing , Liv ends up as our top womens doubles player of the grass season in terms of wins and last at Wimbledon - although Emily and Lily could equal her tally with a Wimbled on title

and so its all over for the womens grass season - and Katie and Sonay manage to share the title for most wins! Well done to both of them!

79 wins compares to 80 last year, 78 the year before - id say the women are proving fairly consistent!

In terms of our predictors, these are the folks who got it correct:

Katie B - Miriam ABC, Jan, Danny1312, Dodrade, Indiana, Brittak

Sonay K - Mdewey, Telstar

Well done to these 8 people - in actual fact they are all half winners really as the result was split as opposed to an outright winner - nonetheless, well done to them for getting it almost spot on!

Thanks to everyone who took part and for following as the grass season went on!

I said I would run a grass court Masters fantasy event - I will start that soon, not tonight , and it will be 16 players over a 4 day period.

Knockout. Womens event to come, mens will follow once Newport is done.

Keep an eye out if its your bag!

So, I have done a draw for the top 16 players in terms of grass wins, with seedings (1 to 16) based on the following, in the priority order shown:

- Total grass wins over the season
- Wimbledon main draw wins
- Eastbourne wins
- Birmingham wins
- Nottingham wins
- Wimbledon qualies wins
- ITF 100 wins (Ilkley/Surbiton)
- WC Play off wins
- World ranking if still a tie

As such, Heather Watson got 16th slot ahead of the other players on 1 win. She and Sam both won a match in Nottingham, Heather has the higher world ranking. Sorry, Sam.

In that order.

The top 16 will be put into head to head matches (1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13, 5 v 12 etc) and let's see who we think would win

First round matches go up tonight, each round will be 24 hours and the final will run until Thursday night.

Couldn't have got any more spot on than we did given the players produced a tie

Of the various voting things I put up, a couple of those have stood the test of time and worked well, without taking too much of my time, or where I think the time spent is enjoyable enough to be worth it continuing as a "thing"

Player of the Month and Season works well ( I should say the Sir Andy Murray Player of the Month and Season) as a concept and as the process has refined and matured, the number of voters increased as well and it seems to be something people engage with well.

The votes for wins at grand slam events, like the current British wins at Wimbledon, seems to generally work well and people engage with it, which is good.

So both of those will continue into the future.

However, the grass court wins one, this thread and the mens equivalent, is one I am not sure really works - I think people probably read it but it takes a lot to keep it updated each day during the grass season and I am not sure it adds a great deal to the tennis world or enjoyment of those on the board.

I think this, therefore, will be one I confine to the archives to be discontinued in future years. The mens isnt quite complete yet, Newport takes place next week. So I will finish them off then and see out the fantasy Masters event I have tagged onto it as an added extra, but in essence this will be the last Grass Court Wins prediction game/poll contest etc etc!

But I will think of other ad hoc things to run with, and others are welcome to do the same!
