Could only watch the Andy Murray scores tick over on the results board but it must bode well for the second set that he took it 7-0.
Meanwhile Jack looked like he was about to throw up after winning the second set, immediately left the court after it finished . Commentary worried that he has a history of not coping well in this kind of heat.
PS Jon H I did not know that about suspended matches.
it was something I saw during the AO, maybe on here from Lambda or someone? To do with giving those players a bit extra rest as they are typically suspended last match the night before (obviously) and so go again with a bit more rest, regardless of whether it was stopped early or late.
Maybe the fact that Andy has told folks he will be retiring after the summer is a release - the highlights I saw suggested some really good tennis in that match. Well done Andy!
Should have won in two sets and then blew two match points . Given he has so few points to defend over the summer one would think he should still make the top 30 soon but he really needs to sort his fitness out.
Particularly disappointing is that the round 3 match would have been very winnable .
That was a tough defeat for Jack who struggled in the Miami heat. Overall I felt like Jack had the edge over Jarry in skill and movement but this was a war of attrition, in the end it was just last man standing and that man was Jarry on a third set tie break.
Reminds you what a brutal sport this is sometimes.
