Katie is playing to such a high level this year and it is great to see. Finally healthy and fit she's improved both her movement and backhand a significant amount.
I'm not a fan of Azarenka and right now I'd put Katie as favourite to win. In fact I think she will make at least the semi final. She's in by far the best half of the draw and her quarter has really opened up with Sabalenka losing.
The real challenge now is to be able to compete at this level tournament after tournament. I think this is what didn't happen at Indian Wells. She entered both physically and mentally drained and lost convincingly. Perhaps more than the physical element it is the mental tiredness that takes getting used to playing day in day out against the very best players.
Without points to defend she can play with complete freedom too. The grass court season will be a different situation but her game is well suited to it and right now I'd say she was an very decent outsider for Wimbledon. On this form no one will want to play her, especially early on.
With Sabalenka going out, if Katie can overcome Azarenka, then she would face the winner of Purtintseva or Kalinina. I know it is very dangerous to look more than one match ahead, particularly when Katie's opponent is such a big hitter and a fiery and determined opponent, but even so, this is a great opportunity for Katie to make the semi-finals here. I'm so excited for her.
No idea if anyone has seen it, but The Times, today, features an interview with Katie B and she talks about how her relationship with Alex has improved both their games and gives insights into why that is. Made interesting reading.

Great win for Danielle Collins. It was one of those 'story brewing' cases from the start: Collins was retiring from the tour after this year (mentioned in every single interview) and playing the tennis of her career.
It felt like her name was on the trophy from the start.
Now is it Grigor Dimitrov's turn for a last hurrah?

Great to see Collins get her career best win!
id love to see Dimi win, but reckon hes got plenty left in the tank regardless, hes only 32 and a half , got a couple more seasons. would love to see him also get a career best title (Miami outranks Cinci, Id say!)
