Boys: J300 Indian Wells, USA, hard (Week 11)

Last year Oliver Bonding reached the final here, and benefited from practicing with some of the men.  This year Viktor Frydrych has the opportunity.

R1 (L48)

(4) Viktor Frydrych bye

Viktor's next opponent has reached a J300 final earlier in the year. Viktor+ play their quarter-final as well today.

Having won the previous round in a 3rd set TB, I guess it's only swings and roundabouts that you lose the next one:

R3

(13) Matisse Farzam (USA) def (4) Viktor Frydrych (GBR) 3-6 6-4 7-6(3)

Lost in doubles too

As an aside, there is a curious story brewing in the girls

13 year-old Christina Lyutova lives in the US, having moved there from Russia. She still plays for Russia. She is the top-ranked 2010 born girl by some way, despite playing a very reduced schedule.

Basically, she never travels outside of the USA (well, not for tennis), making many think she must have some sort of visa problem

She has currently come all the way through qualis and is now into the QFs, having yesterday beaten the 9th seed, JWR 64, 6-1 6-1
