(WC) Megan Knight def. (11) Tea Kovacevic (BIH) 6-1 6-4


As DavidC predicted, she had a winnable QF

Second set was pretty tight

But it was Megan's match and she deserved the win, no question


She'll now play the top seed and much-touted youngster, Jana Kovackova (although Jana rather bombed in Les Petits As, so maybe an outside chance - though some forums have said that Jana had a bad cold at Tarbes so that was the reason.....)

Kovackova has lost just 8 games so far in her 4 matches. Their match is first on court 1 at 9.30am GMT.. Eric Lorimer and his Irish partner are in the boys doubles final

After a bagel first set Megan responded well, to win more games than anyone else this week off her Czech opponent, who caused Megan trouble with her variety and placement of shot.

COngrats to Eric Lorimer who took the doubles title

 

NB I like Sun's game (Sun beat Daniella in the final last week) - she won her SF very easily and I will be interested to see how she does tomorrow against Kovackova

Kovackova won the final 6-3, 6-2. The 4 games Megan won in the second set of their semifinal was the most Kovackova lost in any set all week.

It was a very nice final - a very good showcase for girls' tennis

The score could easily have been 3 & 4

But Kovackova was very professional in her approach and thoroughly deserved the win
