Given the results here, Nix, it's no bad thing to get the couple of wins in stereo ! :)

Unfortunately, though, Isa has now lost her next match, although Mimi won again, and Hannah is currently 4-1 up in the first set

How depressing. I was looking forward to some promising performances in Aus for our young players. Hopefully they're a bit rusty and will do better in the AO juniors!

At least our biggest hopes, Hannah and Mimi, are performing so far. Keep it going, girls.

I like a bott half full man

But I'm a bit with Nix here

Mika losing to Ksenia is not awful. Nor Gabia to Stusek,

Isa losing to the 2009-born Japanese girl is pretty disappointing

But, of course, as you say, Indy, the two main players are still there.

BUT the main problem was with the boys

None of them played a seed. And not one win.

I think a 6-2 6-2 defeat is quite disappointing for Mika. Efremova has had some good results recently, but I find her game rather basic.

I've not seen Yamamoto play, but being the second highest 2009 girl behind Hannah, she must be a good prospect. That being said, it's not a great start to Isabelle's final year in juniors.

I like Stusek's game, reminds me of Bencic. Gabia was always going to struggle.

Yes, I agree about Efremova

Although I know that her new coach says he's working on making her a lot more aggressive - which is what most (sensible) people have been saying for ages - you can't just push the ball around

But, bottom line, maybe she's playing rather better now

Still a disappointing result for Mika though

There's another 2009-born girl in the last 16, a wildcard from Australia I'd never heard of. So well done to her.

Emerson really cruised against stusek - which surprised me too - I like Julia and thought it would be closer

But pleased that the local girl is doing well - Emerson is rather like the Ksenia of AUssie tennis at the moment

In the quarters Hannah plays the often mentioned 2008 Japanese girl Wakana Sonobe. In doubles top seeded Hannah/Mimi, Mika+ and and Isa+ won their opening matches. All the British boys lost in round 1 or 2 of their doubles

Girls QF

(1) Hannah Klugman v (6) Wakana Sonobe (JPN)

What a rough week for the British juniors and Sonobe a potential banana skin as she's been playing really well. After that, it's a likely Orange Bowl rerun, with Jovic and Grant as potential semifinal and final opponents.

Clutching at straws but Oliver Bonding and Benjamin Gusic Wan's conquerers have both beaten seeds to reach the quarter finals, so seem on good form.

Hannah's next opponent has played her once before at the World Tennis Junior Finals Play offs in 2022, which Hannah won, and Mika has also beaten her a couple of times.

Yeh for Hannah

She won her QF match over Sonobe in two sets

Howver, she now plays Iva Jovic (USA) who I really rate

But one thing at a time - at least she's in the semis and swinging

Hannah & Mimi also won their doubles

Mika has also made the doubles Semi final.

Hannah is top seed and looks like increasing her points tally. Whether that is enough to bump her up the junior rankings...

Hannah will only increase by winning the singles and/or doubles today.  Mimi, her partner in the doubles will not increase even if she wins the doubles.  The potential to get up to 5th in the rankings, but the real gains of course can be made next week in the Australian Grand Slam.  QF there has the same points as a win this week.

Also some of the top juniors are not playing next week.
Andreeva will lose 1200+ points as not defending her title plus doubles, so the no.1 ranking is up for grabs.
