A couple of real interesting matches in the girls
Mika is playing 14 year-old Ksenia efremova who, obviously, has been utter mainstream hype and media attention, especially now she's just become the 5th youngest player to win an adult ITF event
And Gabia has Stusek, who won Les Petits As two years ago
I follow Malak too, as there are few north African players

I recently noted from social media that Ksenia Efremova has recently changed her nationality to French

I noted other changes too:

- Kaitlin Quevedo (above Hannah in the rankinga, playing in the Aus Open but not here) has moved from playing for the USA to playing for Spain.

Laura Samsonova (CZE) who has withdrawn from the Aus Open has changed her name to Laura Samson.

Yes. She changed in September. She'd been living here for three years, so was eligible for the 'fast' nationality approval, and took the test and everything. Since her father died, I get the impression that the fmaily (as in the mother and the three kids) have very little to do with Russia (though I've no idea about extended family). It certainly was a strategic change too - France is in dire need of some good young talent, especially one with a hint of 'starlet' about her. They've welcomed her with open arms and the FFT have bent over backwards to get her a wildcard into th Aussie Junior open.

Play was curtailed by implementation of the lightening rule and after a brief attempt to restart was suspended for the day.  However about 3/4 of the matches were completed with on balance disappointing results:

Boys

(8) Oli Bonding LOST to Hayden Jones (Aus) 4-6 6-2 4-6 - Hayden was the highest non-seed in the draw

Victor Frydrych LOST to (Q) Aditya Govlla (IND) 3-6 1-6

Charlie Robertson LOST to Atakan Karahan (TUR) 7-6(4) 3-6 1-6

Ben Gusic-Wan LOST to Danial Rakhmatullayev (KAZ) 2-6 3-6

Girls

(1) Hannah Klugman defeated (WC) Kristina Tai (AUS) 6-0 6-2

(6) Mimi Xu leads Malak el Allami (MAR) 6-0 1-0*(40:15)

Mika Stojsavljevic is level with (Q) Ksenia Efremov (FRA) 1*-1 (0:0)

Isabelle Lacy is level with Asylshan Arystanbekova (KAZ) 7-5 1-6 1-1*(40:40)

Gaby Paskauskas LOST to Julia Stusek (GER) 4-6 4-6

Bit better from the girls:

As well as Hannah going through, Isabelle Lacy and Mimi have won their matches. Tough draw for Mika though and she goes out.

Isabelle Lacy defeated Asylzhan Arystanbekova (Kaz) 7-5 1-6 6-4

Mimi Xu (6) defeated Malak el Allami (Mar) 6-0 7-5

Ksenia Efremova (Q) (Fra) defeated Mika Stojsavljevic 6-2 6-2

Given the results here, Nix, it's no bad thing to get the couple of wins in stereo ! :)

Unfortunately, though, Isa has now lost her next match, although Mimi won again, and Hannah is currently 4-1 up in the first set
