The story in Korea is the performance of the two Dutch guys, Egberink and Sheffers. They are in the singles final and won doubles against expectations in both. Interesting to see if this translates into success when the big guys join them in Japan.
Mens - in a full 32 player draw, Alfie is top seed and plays Japanese Takano in the opening round. Gordon is seeded 4th and plays a Korean in round one and will also play Korean in round 2. Oda is seeded 2 and de la Puente is seeded 3.
Womens - Lucy is seeded 6th and has a bye before playing a Japanese player in the last 16; Cornelia seems to not be playing here
In Japan, Alfie won and joins Gordon in the last 8 of the singles.
Lucy lost her singles last 8 match today.
Alfie and Gordon playing their doubles QF as I write and look like winning comfortably. Lucy is losing hers last 8 doubles, again in action at the moment and a set down.
Alfie and Gordon both won their singles last 8 and are into the semis where they play de la Puente and Oda respectively. Alfie and Gordon also won their doubles semi and into the final.
Lucy won yesterdays doubles in a MTB after being down, playing her semi match at the moment.
Alfie and Tokito Oda both won their semis and into another head to head final between the top 2. Becoming the big rivalry now; Alfie won the last 2, Oda the two before that, and Oda on home ground.
Doubles final between Alfie and Gordon against Oda and his Japanese partner is in the final set right now.
And Alfie went down to Oda in 2 sets. Oda 3-2 head to head this year so far. Presumably Alfie will stay number one though, Oda won the Japan Open last year also and Alfie didnt play it.

Well, Alfie doesnt remain at the top as Oda passes him and moves back to top spot. Last years Japan Open was played week later and so hasnt dropped off yet, hence Oda moving to the top. Presumably when they do fall in a weeks time, Alfie will move back to the top spot

Well done to Greg Slade who won doubles at the series 2 Kobe Open with his German partner; and Gordon Reid, who was runner up in the series 1 event in Germany.

As expected, Alfie is back to number one as Odas 2023 Japan Open points fall off. In reality, there is nothing between Hewett and Oda and the battle at the World Cup will be fascinating.
Surprisingly little information about the World Team Cup which is next week in Turkey. The countries are announced for each event, but no squads yet and no draws. Last year, these had been announced well in advance.
