Other events, 2024 - week 2

A small thing - or maybe not.....

From what I can see, Julia Reynolds (14 years old) has switched her tennis nationality from France to GB

She's playing in Malmo qualis this week.

Unfortunately young Julia lost :(

As did all our other players in qualis in Sweden

However, in the main draw we have Enrico Franchi, Letitia Romanova and Alisha Ndukwu

There is a J200 event this week in Bratislava. Normally that would merit its own thread, but the British contingent (Luke Hooper, Zechariah Hamrouni, Hollie Smart, Daniela Piani, Ruby Cooling and Maria Ustic) all lost in qualifying

J60 Germany

Rhys Lawlor (age 14) is in the MD, as is Tamara Kuti, playing the young Czech prodigy, Jana Kovackova (age 13)

J60 Sweden

Enrico Franchi, Letitia Romanova and Alisha Ndukwu all lost their first match :(

J60 New Zealand

Wambui Taylor lost her first match too, to another 13 year-old (this one I'd not heard of), Miyu Iwasa (JPN)

However, we have a good contingent of girls in Costa Rica, J100, and we've actually got a couple of wins

R1 wins for Sophie Bekker and Brooke Black

Still to play are Flora Johnson, Vlada Kozak and Athina Schlepphorst

J60 Germany

Rhys Lawlor (age 14) is in the MD - result to come

Tamara Kuti, unfortunately, was no match for the young Czech prodigy, Jana Kovackova (age 13), who won 6-4 6-1

J60 Sweden

No doubles interest left either - a real washout, this event

J60 New Zealand

Wambui Taylor lost her doubles too

J60 UAE

Max Castle is into the QFs

Issah Ali lost in R1, 7-6(9) in the third set :(

J100 Costa Rica:

R1 wins for Sophie Bekker, Brooke Black and Vlada Kozak

But not for Flora Johnson nor Athina Schlepphorst

Rhys & Alex are into the finals of the doubles

J100 Costa Rica

Unfortunately both Vlada Kozak and Brooke Black lost their SFs (Brooke by a whisker to the 2009-born talented USA girl, Julieta Pareja)

Not to be for Rhys & Alex

But they were playing the top seeds, and lost 6-2 7-6(3), so obviously made a good fit of it in the second set
