2024 Rankings

Mika makes a big jump up the rankings

That makes her 10th in the world in terms of rankings (and that's counting all the 2008-ers together, whereas Mika is actually a very young 2008-er)

Sophie Bekker's J100 title also gives her a big boost

I noticed our top boys had all fallen in the rankings today, Henry to 5, Oli to 19 and Viktor down 2 places - the last one surprised me, I wasnt expecting a drop but I guess I dont know how the junior rankings work and why he dropped places after reaching the AO final!!

Mimi, though, rose to 12 and Mika got a 12 place rise to 30

The key to understanding this is the fact that many of the points won at the Australian Open in the boys event are by those in their final junior year.   Hence many of the points from last year will have gone at the end of the year, and there is a big overall gain of points after the Australian Open, meaning that players in the top 50 who gain no points can expect a drop in ranking.  Viktor's gain in doubles amounts to around 100 points, once divided by 4.  That would be enough to stay level or even gain a place or 2 for some in the top 50, but Viktor is clearly in an area of the rankings where there were quite a few big net gainers.

A much lower percentage of points in the girls event are won by players in their last year, so you don't get the same effect.

Thanks David - that makes sense!

Thanks in large to the J30s in Liverpool and Dublin, there's a lot of movement in the lower ranks
Mia Wainwright is now on the cusp of the top-1000
Heidi Crncan jumps up over 500 places
And welcome to the rankings to Daniella Britton and Daisy Wootton (both born in 2010), so we now have four 2010-ers
