Good to see another potential player coming through.

Keep it up Megan

live streaming of Megan's SF

live streaming does not last long as there is only a free trial period but it does show Megan playing well. However there is live scoring.

 C'mon, Megan !

She's been a real little fave for ages, cemented by her performance at the nationals last year

For those who didn't follow the threads then, she's the daughter of Nick Knight, former English cricketer

A real natural ball striker

And we have a British finalist tomorrow, trying to emulate Jess Ren's success in 2006 (beating Laura Robson in the semis). It will be tough as she is up against the Israeli girl who beat her recently in the Tennis Europe U12 Festival (Invitational Masters type event). Baranes was also part of the Israeli team that beat us in the European Summer Cup finals

And Megan wins her semi-final 6-3 6-3

Which sets her up for a repeat of the Mallorca final in November with Daniel Baranes.

Who really impressed me.

Although the match was SO close and went right to the wire, Baranes had the slight edge I feel.

But I'll be rooting for Megan !!!!

What happened to the Ren sisters, injury troubles? They seem to be working in finance now.

Megan has lost the first set, 6-4
Pretty close. Lots of breaks of serve.
But Baranes again deserved it as the more aggressive player, doing a bit more wirh the ball, putting a bit more on the ball,
And Megan has no forecourt game, which hinders her options

All credit to Megan for going to Plan B, for trying to play more aggressively, but she hasn't really got the game to do that yet.

She lost the second set 6-1

Baranes really does have a very complete game, with a lot of weight on the ball, extremely solid leg base for her shots, and some excellent defence too (as well as the attack)

But a very good week for Megan - runner-up is a huge achievement

I don't remember any serious injury problems. The effectiveness of the Rens waned as they moved through the junior age groups, and neither of them were able to reach the ITF Junior top 50 or make a significant impression at WTA events.  I think Jennifer played collegiate tennis for a while and Jess Unversity tennis before choosing a different path.
