2024 Women's Predictions Competition

Well done, SuperT, difficult to match such super hits!

Ive been out for the evening and just got home to see this! Still cant quite believe it! Thanks everyone for your kind words. I knew things were improving for me when Marnie had her good run, but when Jodie won Dubai and pushed Lily down to 8th I thought that would cost me the title. Thanks TA, its been great fun. Just a shame I was so abysmal in the mens comp.

I've enjoyed running it this year, and am getting the spreadsheet set up for next year. A new thread will be coming, but you can start thinking how to beat SuperT now !

It's too much time and faff but it would be interesting to know also, where we'd all have been if no substitutions had been allowed

I think my removal of Hannah in 8th (and not Katie Swan coz of the position) and putting Marni in instead (at 260) must have made a huge difference

Nearly all the rest is nonsense !

I can look into that CD later this week once I have set up the 2025 competitions. I keep the spreadsheet for each update so I can go back to the beginning and input the current rankings.

Good substitute decision CD, and what a superb rise overall from where you were after Wimbledon.

I wasn't really being serious !!! (Well, not unless you absolutely want to, of course)

But it's slightly curious - especially as the subsitutes are quite a new thing

And, yes, turned my 2024 around (which - especially given the men's debacle - was much appreciated !)

Well done Super T. Thank you for organising TA. Definitely starting to think about 2025. So Katie number 1 or Emma. Long way to go. Where is the next Sonay in the mix? Or a pin blindfold and list of names!

I know what you mean ! No-one predicted Ella's rise from WR1198 to WR397. The current next group of players who could make the breakthrough (Mimi, Hannah, Ranah and Mika) don't appear to be quite ready yet to jump.

I'll do a summary of the current players when I post the 2025 competition shortly.

The youngster card is the hardest

Not sure about 'they don't seem quite ready to make the jump'

I mean, #10 this year was WTA 397 (is that a record low?)

Surely one of those you mention will be well inside WR 397 this time next year?

I would put good money that at least one of them will be - just don't know which one

I swapped Fran for Katie Swan which gave me 4 extra points.  They both have lots of injury problems so its always hard to predict whether either of them will be able to play, although we all know they both have great potential if they are fit.

I know what you mean, but only Mimi is inside the top 500 at the moment and I was considering the jump to top 250. Plenty to think about.

It's interesting that in the men's competition only one of us scored more than 35 points, which here would place us right at the bottom. And yet we always think it's the women's that is hardest to predict.

Awh 4th! I'll take that, even if it is often the worst place to finish in sport. Thanks the addict for organizing!
