Manacor is hosting the TE U12 championships this week

We had four girls in the poule stages

Megan Knight has been a little fave of mine since age 10 - there's a lot to like in her tennis going forward - but we have a reasonable crop of young players.

Latvian Darina Matveyeva, however, is the overwhelming favourite - she's won every single relevant tournament she's entered this year, I believe.

Megan absolutely cruised through her three round robin matches. She won 0&0 and 0&1 and 0&2

And then won her first match in the 8-player MD knock-out stage, 6-2 6-1.

So she's made the semis which is great but we want more

Ingrid Dumitru did very well - she won two of her three poule matches, as did the winner, who went through on count back.

Sofia Tatu and Yanziye Zhang lost all their poule matches.

In the boys, Haqim Kamal lost all his three matches, as did Luca Dani SATCHELL VILLALBA

J100 Slovakia

Excellent wins so far for young Hollie Smart (born 2009)

She won in R1 and then beat the 17 year-old Mravcova who is Junior ITF 149 !

Ruby Cooling unfortunately lost in R1

Dani Piani won R1 - her R2 match yet to come

Megan Knight's SF in the U12 Masters is currently on livestream if anyone wants to have a look

(She's the far taller of the two girls, wearing white and blue)

I only managed to catch the end of the tiebreak but Megan clearly has a lot of potential.

I watched most of it, on and off

Megan was winning easily until Grace started doing chimney-pot shots and Megan got a bit tight

But, yes, she's an exciting prospect

That said, neither of them were playing anywhere near as well as the other semi-final - which is a really high level of tennis, with hard aggressive hitting and placement

Megan won her SF 6-2 7-6(4)

She'll now play the Israeli girl called Daniel Baranes who gave the Latvian wunderkind her first U12 loss of the year, in a high quality match

Allegra Korpanec DAvies and Flora Johnson take the doubles title, 6-3 6-4

Allegra also won her SF, beating the young Italian 'superstar', Angelica Sara, age 13, who was top seed

Flora lost her SF in three sets

J100 Slovakia

QF: Hollie Smart (age 14) ITF JR 732 def. Kitti Molnar (age 17) ITF JR 163

That's Hollie's second win of the week against a 17 year-old player ranked about 150 in the world in juniors.

Amazing run of wins for Hollie

Dani Piani lost in R2 of the singles

However, Dani+ will play Ruby+ in the semis of the doubles so we have a surefire dubs finalist

Update in Slovakia, J100

Dani+ beat Ruby+ so it's Dani we're rooting for in the doubles final

U12 Manacor Masters

Megan Knight lost in a MTB to Daniel Baranes

Great contest but the Israeli girl was just that little bit better, IMO, and deserved it

Still, a super week for Megan - she got the doubles title and runners-up position in the singles

J60 Bahrain

Allegra Korpanec Davies takes the singles title, over the French girl, 3-6 7-6(4) 6-4

So she did the double - singles and doubles

That's the second time Daniel has thwarted British players in a key under 12 final.  She beat Liv Zingg in the European Summer Cup final in August (Megan losing to another Israeli girl)

Meanwhile in Trnava (Slovakia J100) Hollie's run came to an end, losing 6-2 6-1 to Nadia Lagaev - the Canadian led her nation in the BJK Cup last week and only lost 5-7 in the third to top tenner Laura Samsonova

However Dani+ claimed the title with Lagaev 6-4 6-4 smile

Macy did though win the doubles title with Harena Voaviandraina (MAD). Two J60 Nairobi doubles titles in a row for the pair.
