Mark lost 7-5 6-2 but Oli won the first set on the tiebreak against the Czech number 1. He has just lost the second set 7-5. Live stream with commentary here

Oli went down 6-4 3rd set and so we depart. Good effort from the lads though, well done for that and onwards into 2024!!

There's no early departuresmile  The Junior Davis Cup and BJK Cup are played out to establish positions 1-16. We enter the 5th - 8th play-offs against Canada.  A win would guarantee at least matching our best result since Kyle Edmund et al won the trophy in 2011 (6th in 2019 with Jack Pinnington Jones et al).

QF

Czechia 2 GBR 0

Jan Kumstat d. Mark Ceban 7-5 6-2

Maxim Mrva d. Oliver Bonding 6-7(2) 7-5 6-4

Oli was rested from the singles today, but we still managed a 2-1 win over Canada, via 3 tight matches all decided by match tiebreaks (they don't play 3rd sets for consolation matches). As a result we are guaranteed to at least match 2019's sixth place, and can improve to 5th if we beat Netherlands tomorrow. Czechia edged their semi against Spain , so meet Italy in the final (Federico Cina winning the match between the two highest ranked players here, defeating Darwin Blanch)

5th- 8th place play-off

Canada 1 GBR 2

Mikael Arseneault lost to Mark Ceban 3-6 7-6(4) [9-11]
Nicholas Arseneault beat Zechariah Hamrouni 6-4 3-6 [10-8]
N. Arseneault / Faragcao lost to Bonding/Hamrouni 6-2 2-6 [7-10]

We can only match our 6th place of 2019 after a 2-0 defeat to Netherlands. Czechia won the decisive doubles to win the Junior Davis Cup

5th-6th place play-off

Netherlands 2 GBR 0

Sander Paradis beat Mark Ceban 7-6(4) 2-6 [10-8]
Mees Rottgering beat Oliver Bonding 6-0 6-1
