And the girls SF were:

Sophia Christodoulou (2008) def. (1) Freya Peet (2008) 6-2 6-4

Tegan Bush (2008) def. (wc) (8) Hollie Smart (2009) 6-4 6-3

I've never seen Sophia C play, or know anything about her. Am curious to find out....

She is at Gosling. I think I may have seen her play at Liverpool, but I'm not 100% sure.

Tegan Bush I have seen and she has a nice game.

 Thanks, paulisi

The only time I've seen Tegan was in the nationals, on livestream, last year, I think it was.

And I really wasn't impressed. Not big picture. But finals are funny things, very stressy, so it probably wasn't her best.

Am going to keep a lookout for Sophia....

Yes, you really shouldn't judge a player by only ever seeing them play 1 game, the same with all the others.

Tegan is a fantastic player, very difficult to play against as she is very different to how most of the other girls play. She has the best hand skills and feel for the ball. Can create beautiful angels. She is still only 14 and getting stronger and more aggressive.

Sophia is a completely different player, very big and powerful with a huge serve, and if its working for her, is very difficult to break. Went off the boil for a period but seems to be back on form.

Thanks for the insight. Really interesting.

I mentioned my caveat against seeing Tegan once, and I take on board you must have seen her a lot more, but I still don't completely buy off on not being able to judge people off one viewing. Yes, it's not the best basis but it's not nothing. When I saw her, she was simply pushing the ball around, with slightly dodgy technique. However, very glad to hear that she's getting stronger and, presumably, hitting through the ball more.

Thanks very much too for the little synopsis of Sophia C - will try to find somewhere to see her play....

Overall, though, lovely to see so many of our 2008-ers (as well as 2009-ers) doing well here
