The European under 16 championships were originally scheduled to take place in Prerov at the same time as the under 14 and under 18 events in July. They have since been moved to Parma and rescheduled for this week. Nations, except the host, are restricted to 2 entrants per event and we have not selected any of the sextet who successfully qualified for the Junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup
Live scoring should be available via the Tennis Europe Junior Tour app, which you can download here
3/4 through with Max particularly ruthless - though he will probably face the second seed next. Joe also faces a daunting match against the fast rising Ivan Ivanov (JWR105 following a J300 semi, including a comfortable win over Ben Gusic Wan) while Lois faces the 9th seed (IWR186)
Boys R1 (L128)
Joseph Mazingham d. Achilleas Makris (CYP) 6-3 6-1
R2
Joseph Mazingham v (7) Ivan Ivanov (BUL)
Maximilian Carrier d. Ignas Grusnius (EST) 6-0 6-0
Girls R1 (L128)
Lois Newberry d. Lena Couto (POR) 6-2 4-6 6-4
Massiva Boukirat (FRA) d. Ciara Moore 0-6 7-5 7-5
As expected Joe was unable to trouble the Bulgarian while Lois unfortunately retired from her match. As both doubles teams lost their opening matches that just leaves Max, who takes on the Swedish second seed, a familiar name in this section
Boys R2
(7) Ivan Ivanov (BUL) d. Joseph Mazingham 6-2 6-2
R3
Maximilian Carrier v (2) William Rejchtman Vinciguerra (SWE)
Girls R2
(9) Tereza Krejcova (CZE) d. Lois Newberry 6-2 3-1 rtd
No shock result in Parma, so the British challenge ends in the main draws (Ciara has reached the quarters of the consolation draw for those who lost their first match)
Boys R3
(2) William Rejchtman Vinciguerra (SWE) d. Maximilian Carrier 6-1 6-2
