Fourth time lucky for Henry, who breaks for a 2-0 lead in the second set

Looks like quite a few of the juniors are really struggling in the conditions, not a huge surprise when you add in the emotional and psychologically strain of a Slam on top of the physical challenges (I'm sure many have played in this sort of heat and humidity elsewhere but it will feel worse and somehow more oppressive here I'm sure).

Our girl missed a match point at 5-3* and has saved three break points so far. Huge fighting on both sides of the net here, giving it everything. Still *5-4 deuce.

EDIT 2: but the japanese player will have another chance, except mika saves it again!

Yes, really well done.
That game at 4-3 was brutal
So easily could have been 4-4
She did really well to hang in there
And then when serving for it, double faults that looked pretty tired legs
Bravo

What a shame for Isabelle. Hope its nothing too serious and just precautionary.

Súper from Mika. As said its great experience to play in such different conditions, especially when shes so young still. A tough one next (although theyre all tough at this level!) against Quevado.

I just noticed that Luca Pow, who won his QR1 match and then lost to the top Q seed, is now playing a UTR event in Winston-Salem.
Seems a sensible idea - if you're going to make the trip, might as well get as much experience in as you can.

The doubles draw came out while Mika was playing but unless I missed it, don't think anything has been mentioned yet.

'The unbeatables' Hannah and Mimi are playing together and Mika teams up with 15yo American Shannon Lam.

In the boys Henry Searle is with Tomasz Berkieta (POL) and are 3rd seeds. Ollie Bonding partners Alejandro Melero Kretzer (ESP).

Mimi takes the opening set in a tie breaker. Interesting match up - Jones is seeded 12, but Mimi has gone two places ahead of her in todays rankings. 7-6 feels like a reflection of how close they actually are to each other.
