Great focus from Jack. Just needs to stay composed, as 2-0 sets will probably be too much for Herbie to haul back

 The point of no return.

Hopefully we're getting there. 5-1 second set.

HH back to the wall time finding enough to pull it back to 5-4. Jack needs to find something himself and slam the door shut now.

Good game to finish that set, even with the 'hang-your'head-in-shame' point in the middle

That was painful to watch! But probably fair to put that down to a bit of match play rustiness...Good to see him taking the second set though as HH may hit back and has the crowd largely behind him.

I was sure this 3rd set was going to go to a tie break. Maybe it still will but with a break in the 11th game Jack has a chance to serve out the game.

Brilliant win for Jack. That will do his ranking (and his bank balance) no harm whatsoever.

Jack looks like he might go on to play the giant American  John Isner in the next round if I've understood the draw right, although Isner has just dropped the third set to Michael Mmoh on a tie break after winning the first two handily.

Things not looking so great for Andy Murray losing the first set 6-3 and a break down in set two to Grigor  Dimitrov.

In my 2023 predictions, I had Jack finishing the season just outside the Top 10. A tournament victory here would do very nicely thank you. smile

I nearly put a bet on at the start of the year for Jack to be SPOTY winner 2023 as I had this inkling he might do something huge. And hey he was ( I think ) 66/1. I never got round to it though.

Now not even on bet365's list, I wonder if I should ask about one of  their "others on request".
